Just though you should know..
If you are trying to process a NEF with engine version 7 in capture one 10 it will hang and crash your system.
Not sure if it is a bug, ( you should upgrade the engine and solve the problem) but i was processing a bunch of old images and my system kept crashing, until i found out that one of them was engine 7. Upgraded and fixed it.
Yes i did file a support, but like i said not really a bug.

This might apply here...I get instant crashes with a NEF picture...but how, where and what can I upgrade "engine 7"?? 0 -

On the Colour tab, under base characteristics, there is an item that says Engine. The image I am viewing at the moment says Capture One 7. There is a button beside that which says Upgrade. Clicking that would convert that variant to the newest processing engine. But beware - you can't undo it. So if you are concerned that your adjustments might not look the same when the engine has been upgraded, you could first clone the variant (F3, or right click in the browser and choose clone variant) and try upgrading the engine on the clone. Then you could compare the look of the two variants side by side. Whether you will see much difference rather depends on the adjustments you have used on the image in question. Some adjustments, such as the HDR tool, work a bit differently. Also with the new engine you have more options, for instance changing white balance as a local adjustment to just part of the image.

Hmm...unfortunately that wasn't it. But it seems that it CO10 does have a problem with NEF files.
I'll make a seperate post about it.
But thanks for your help!!!0 -

I use Nikons, so I use NEF files all the time, and I haven't seen a problem. Perhaps you should put in a support case.
