importing help please
Hi Everyone,
Just switched over to C1 from Aperture. In the past I always imported to my computer. Now i figure its time to learn to import to an external drive. I am having trouble understanding how to in c1. Please excuse my limited knowledge but here goes.... I open c1 and put my memory card in my computer. Import box opens in c1, import from shows nikon d750 and include subfolders is checked. import to under store files I choose and create a folder on my external drive. I hit import and when the photos import onto c1 I get a big question mark framed where the photo should be. the recent import shows they were imported on the left of c1. The photos do show up on my external drive. Please tell me how to get them into c1....I'm about to go nuts!
Thanks, Steve

Steve,
You don't need to go nuts! Just stand back a little, take a deep breath and click on the "help" button from within C1. You will find access to a number of useful videos. You can watch them as many times as you require. There are also others on you tube if you search phase one.0 -
It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. It looks like CO is failing to see the correct path to the files on the external hard drive after the import. Does the hard drive name or path to the files contain and any special characters ? 0 -
Just checking, you are using CO 8.1.1, right? (because of your D750 files) 0 -
I am having this same problem. Something seems awry with the image import code. 0 -

Could you post a raw file? Or could you post a screenshot?0 -

The original problem seemed to be that the import was working in terms of where the files went but C1 could not see the resulting folder or images (not sure).
Is that what you are experiencing?
What is your external disk and how is it connected?
Are you importing to a catalog or a session? Or have you tried both?
It sounds like the import has in fact worked, based on the fact that you have C1 knowing about the images just not able to get at them "off-line". The does not sound like an import code problem specifically but one of connectivity challenges to the external device for some reason.
If you close C1 and re-open can you then see the images open for edit?
If you re-start the Mac can you then get C1 to see the images?
