exclude "Output" folder from " All Images"
hey everyone
it seems that when selecting "All Images" the Output folder is included as well.
How can I deactivate this?
After correcting approx 20-50 folders in Output marked as favourites I usually select "all images", then cmd d to process them all eg with Quickproof. (Later all the jpegs are filed under the proper subfolders with the help of Mr rapdigital super tool theOrganised - thanks man!)
Unfortunately during exporting to Output folder a second "Activity" pop up opens, as C1 is creating proxies etc for every single JPEG being added to Output.. ?!
Of course I can deselect " all images" after adding all immages to the queue, but sometimes it's quite handy to have them all together in one browser column...
Sorry for strange description. Don't know the exact description. German version...
Thanks for any ideas
Paul

I assume you are using a session and you have selected the "All Images" smart album. This smart album lists the contents of all session folder, albums and favorites. So, yes, your Output folder contents is listed and that behavior can not be undone. More about (smart) albums can be found here:
http://imagealchemist.net/sessions-continued/
However, you can assign your output to a folder that is not part of the session structure and will not be listed by the All Images smart album. You can do this from either the Output Location tool or the process recipe. More about that here:
http://imagealchemist.net/capture-one-process-recipes/
And unless you have a clear reason not to do so, I strongly recommend you to update to the latest version of CO8 (8.3.2 is current at time of writing).0 -
Hey Paul
Yes - session, smart album.
Different Output folder - this is a good solution, easy.
Thank you!

8.2.2 - didn't want to change the running system yet...
but thanks for the advice0 -
Would it help you to set global filters in the View menu to hide files such as JPG or processed TIFF files?

By default in a session folder structure the Output folder is NOT considered to be a session folder that is part of "All images".
However if, as part of your work flow, you have edited images in that folder using the same Capture One session then the files will be known to the session master database and will have been registered as known images and so become part of All Images.
I think if you change your workflow a little you should be able to process the jpgs to folders in the default session Output folder without any need to edit them further in Capture One and that would solve your problem as you described it.
HTH.

Grant, I respectfully disagree. All smart albums in a session search in all session folders. That is by design. I you for example throw a jpg file with Finder (or Explorer) in the Output session folder, it immediately shows up in the All Images smart album.
I know there have been some errors with the Capture folder on Windows, so that could explain a different experience on Windows.0 -

Hi Paul,
Yes, I understand what you are saying and you are not wrong BUT my point was that in normal use if you process files out to the Output folder they will not appear in the "All Images" selection UNLESS you actively open the folder that contains them using Capture One.
If you pick a file from somewhere and put and place it anywhere using Finder it becomes "known" to the session. That in turn is likely to induce C1 to find all the files in the folder at some point because the session also "knows" about the folder. (I don't recall seeing anything moved into an Output folder using Explorer outside Capture One suddenly appearing in a session but then nor can I recall doing anything like that!)
However, if you only ever Process to or Export to a folder the contents of the folder are not added to the "All Images" selection by default. At least they are not on my system.
So the simple solution is to not open whichever output folder has been used using C1. Which basically means, in Windows terms, don't set C1 to be your preferred program for opening random jpgs I suppose.
I have always tended to use a different viewer with the additional objective of seeing how other applications display the results.
Does that explain my early comment more correctly?

The quick fix is to point to a random, non-used folder and set it as the session's Output folder.
Otherwise, tweak your All Images smart album so Any - Does Not Contain - jpg.0 -

First I tried it this way, but then C1 is acting strange:
I deleted the old session and created with C1 a new one with the same name on the same place.
In Finder, I created a new folder which is not located in the folder of the session and told C1 this folder to be the Output folder. Besides the right click in the browser of C1 to do this step I didn't click on/select the new Output folder.
I added all Capture folders to the Favourites list by drag'n'drop. Selected the "all images" smart album. Number on top of browser counting upwards until 4300 in this case. cmd a - 4300 of 4300 raws selected.
Then processed with Quickproof. Everything cool, JPEGs being created in the new Output folder. But then:
In C1, the former 4300 of 4300 changes. The first number decreases (why that? I did not deselect any RAWs..#?!), the second one increases, as JPEGs appear as well in the "All Images"-list just next to the RAW files. Damn. Proxies wheel again. "CaptureOne"-folder appears in the new Output-folder. I do not love this.
I stopped the queue after 31 images being processed to Quickproof JPEGs. Now on top of browser it says "3835 of 4331 images selected". Strange.
So somehow this workaround doesn't work here.
I'm very interested in your opinion...
Cheers Paul
