Copying and transferring GPS info

So yesterday I took a picture with my small camera, just to get the GPS coordinates. Viewed them on the Info tab, and wrote them down.

Then, I took 200 or so images, and after getting the import screen -- but before importing the images -- I tried to find some way to force the GPS coordinates in the import process. No go... you cannot alter the EXIF GPS info on import to force add the coordinates. At least, as far as I could determine.

Back to square one, if anyone has any suggestions...

First off, let me just say I have never messed with gps stuff before.

Have you tried after import with all your images in your session/catalog to select all the files necessary with the most selected file being the one with the gps coordinates and doing a copy/paste from within the metadata tab?

I can't seem to find any way to copy just the GPS meta data in order to paste it elsewhere. You can copy adjustments, but not the meta data, at least not that I've been able to find. But then, C7 does tend to hide some options pretty deep in menus....

PhotoLinker is really the ideal solution for the GPS information with Capture One. 😉

Thanks for the replies; useful information.

While PhotoLinker seems like the way to go, there appears to be one major drawback: images have to be on your computer to geotag them using PhotoLinker. Since I never have my images on my computer, always imported directly from my memory card into my Catalog, this would require a complete revision of my work flow.

I'll investigate this some more, and will report back here what I find. I also am looking at alternate ways of adding GPS data to my images before or during import.

    John,

I would have thought that introducing the GPS requirement without it being part of your main camera''s offering was already a large change of workflow. That's one of the reasons I cannot get very excited about the concept at this point - but might in the future.
