Smart Albums

    Benjamin,

A Smart Album is a virtual album - basically a preset search filter. It works with which ever images are available to it according to your folder selection(s).

Try the All Images default selection, for example. Of course this may also pick images from other folders in the session that you do not require but that's a different problem and a Workflow question.

    Hi Grant,

    Thanks for your reply.

I tried out what you said, and found that if you add each folder as a Session Favorite, then the Smart Album filtering seem to work and pick out each reg tag from each separate folders irregardless of whether it's set to a capture folder or not.

    Hi Ben,

You're right, I should have mentioned favourite folders as being part of the functionality. At the time I had a session with no favourite folder open so was reluctant to rely on my memory alone.

In fact it looks a bit more nuanced than that in that if any of the folders in the Favourites list have filters applied it's the filtered result that becomes the basis of the Smart Album results - or at least that's how it seems. I have to admit that my use of smart filters is not extensive. The same goes for Capture folder activity - not something I regularly use at this time.

I have also found that if you have empty folders before populated folders the results will be thrown off.
    Example:
    In Favorites:
Capture (Empty, created default capture folder when creating session)
    00PRELIGHT
    00010_RAW
    00020_RAW
    00030_RAW

    In Smart Album:
    Images from 00PRELIGHT, 00020_RAW, and 00030_RAW .... but 00010_RAW images are omitted.

Delete 'Capture' from favorites, and 00010_RAW images iare now in Smart Album.
