6 large circles with X's inside each one

Did something I can't explain but each image in viewer window have a set of circles and X's on them. Can someone tell me how to make them go away? Skimmed the options in "view" but didn't come up with anything.

    Check under the camera dropdown menu to see if composition mode is checked.
