Working with layers
Hi,
I use the fresh capture one pro for sony 11 on a macbook pro 10.13.1 high sierra.
When working with the layer tool and trying the layer action "Refining the mask edge" I get an error message telling me that the action can't be applied if the picture is offline. But the picture is not offline. Choosing the menu "find in finder" shows me the file on my hard disk. Ok, the hard disk is an external drive, but it is connected and the program is able to find the original raw picture. By the way all other actions in the layer menu are applicable to the same picture and are working fine.
Is this behavior a software-bug or am I doing something wrong?

Hard to say, could be either one. Two suggestions:
- contact Phase One support to iron this out
- play along by moving the image file to a folder on your internal disk and try again0 -

Who, among the user community, is likely to know the answer to that?
Create a Support Case, get the official answer and then share it here?

Thank you for your answers and hints. I have created a support case (271963) and will inform you about the official answer. 0 -
Hi,
the support case is closed now. I found out that the error occurs when you try to apply the layer action to a picture directly after upgrating an old catalog from version 10 to 11. The workaround is then to restart Capture One after converting the catalog.0 -

Thanks for that feedback Bernd.
I guess that makes some sense.
If using a session one would have to change the image variant's C1 Engine to V11 to be able to use the new V11 features so presumably something similar would apply unless the engine change itself is enough.
I don't think I have yet tried refine with an image previously processed with a mask in an earlier version.
Something to watch out for.
