Ratings lost in Transfer between Macs and HDs
Had a quick search to see if anyone else has had this issue. Nothing showed.
On location I use my MBPro to edit and rate/process files. I then bring that home and transfer the session file and capture folder to two hard drives.
Sometimes I have to go back to these sessions and repeat the edit/process (like when the stupid client loses the production files). This will be done on my Mac Pro, so NOT the same machine as I edited on, ergo, not the same C1Pro software either, not that I can see that making a difference surely (surely?). Because...
Normally all the ratings would remain with the session, but lately, since the last update of C1Pro I guess, I have found **some** of the ratings have disappeared when reworking the files on the different Mac. Some folders are OK, and everything is there still (I divide up shoots into folders for day, location, subject etc, within the session folders of course) but some images in other folders have lost all the ratings, which means I can't do a fast process, which is fantastically annoying as I basically have to go back to the clients original contact sheets and locate each file independently.
Anyone experienced this before?
Thanks

Would creating an XMP sidecar file for your files, containing the ratings, be a solution here for better consistency? 0 -
It might well be. Can this be generated during import into C1? I'm away from the software right now.
But my main concern is the inconsistency. Why Ratings in some folders make it across, some folders lose it. Surely that ain't right!0 -
Check the Software Preferences when you get back to your software.
The option is available in the preferences.0
