    Hi Remmelt,

Currently we don't have any specific release dates for the next gen. version of Capture One.

You can find information on future releases of Capture One by staying tuned to our website for updates on upcoming releases.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

Why is it that is so quiet at Phase One when it comes to releasing an update of, IMHO, the best RAW-converter available ?? Is it that they are not interested in the non-professional shooters, like myself ? I mean, there are a lot of shooters out there, shooting RAW with a camera below $1000 (the lens not included) and wanting the best converter ! Please enlighten me !!

    Hello,
Feeling a bit frustrated. I believe the discussion on version 4.0 and possible improvements started more than two years ago. At that time the Phase One forum was located in the States and was conducted by a Mr Tapes. Since then it seems nothing has happened. I believe most convertors at this price level have a straighten tool. This is not case with the LE version but was possible with my old SE version, a bit frustrating. Also Phase One have been seccessfull in selling seven (7) uppgrades to me. If there never is a big update I feel a bit cheated on my money:(
Still I think LE is a nice convertor but prefer RSP as it includes a straighten tool and has a nice workflow. Only sad thing is that it has been stopped by Adobe.

I share the views expressed regarding this subject. Adobe Lightroom, although in its Beta version is shaping up to be a very nice raw workflow program.

If like myself you came to C1 LE from RSP because you wanted the best converter available, you cannot help being tempted by the prospect of a free dowload of the full version of Lightroom for registered users of RSP.

We. need some reassurance that staying with C1 will be rewarded soon with Version 4 or you will see a exodus away from the product.

After looking and playing with LR, I don't think it will be an answer for me. For a long time now C1 pro has been my main tool because of its easy of use, speed and generailly getting the look I am after the fastest. I suppose I used it on 80% of my work untill lately. As you mentioned, other converters are moving ahead with revisions that we can see on a timely manor. I would say that now, since I have gotton use to the Bibble interface, I find myself using it a good 70% of the time...the first converter I open up. I still have confidence that C1 will outshine the rest when we finally see it (who knows when) but it will really have to be a cut above the other before I would spend any more money with them for what the pro version cost me.

Well, well, well. Finally, version 4 is coming !! Please gives us more insight ! Bring out a beta version and have it tested, why not. It will shine up you imago in the world.

I am very curious what it will bring us !!

I have been a long time user of C1 and it is my raw converter of choice. I've tried (and bought in many cases) most of the other ones but nothing can come close to the consistency of the results that I get from C1.

I posted a question on here a couple of weeks ago about the date of the release of version 4.x. I was directed to a press release which you can find at http://www.phaseone.com/upload/press_ph ... 260906.pdf

If you were around here a few years ago Phase One did publish a target date for the next version and then missed the date and got nothing but flak from the user community. It is a catch 22 for software developers, put out a date that you think you can make. If you make it too far in the future you are accused of dragging your feet, put it out and miss it you are accused of not being on your game. Having worked in software development in a industry unrelated to photography I know it is a no-win situation.

There are lots of things that I would like to see in the next version and just about everything that is on my list was covered in a forum section here that ran for quite some time on what the user community wanted in the next version.

I would love to see a more active user forum like there was when M. Tapes ran one. Alas we don't have it partly because the only thing that I see is people coming on here with a problem and someone from Phase One saying, "create a business case" or users are just venting about the overall lack of a specific feature.

I don't find the lack of a straightening tool all that cumbersome. We have lots of opportunities to do this, starting with the time of shooting or doing it in photoshop which has a good tool for doing it. It is not a show stopper, imo.

People could be setting themselves up for some disappointments. In the press release they say that Version 4 will focus on the requirements of the professional photographer. This signals to me that if you want the full benefits of the new items you will have to move to the Pro version (which is where I already am at, so it is a moot point from my perspective). I am quite excited about what I read between the lines in the press release.

I have no doubt that they have this version either already at or soon to be with a number of beta testers. I personally would prefer that they do this before they open it up with a release candidate to the general population.

It would be nice to have a new release sooner than later. I am getting my conversions done with my current version and it is not bug riddled. I say lets let them do it right but they also should know that there are products like Lightroom nipping at their heels and if they don't respond to the marketplace in a timely fashion they stand to lose some of their user base.
