Media Pro doesn't talk to Capture One
I've just started using Media Pro and to be honest, I can't see the point of it as it stands.
1) It should be fairly obvious how to use an application such as Media Pro, it isn't, I had to trawl through many on-line videos just to find out why I couldn't get Media Pro to load any images; I shouldn't have had to do that!
2) Media Pro and Capture One don't seem to talk to each other in that if I make an alteration in Capture One it should show up in Media Pro without me having to do anything.
3) I still can't find out how to click on an image in Media Pro and send it to Capture One to edit. If I right click on an image and select Open With Capture One all I get is a message stating "Opening a Media Pro in a Catalog is not supported, try with a session" ???
Sorry for the rant but unless I am missing something (which once again should be obvious) I really can't see the point of Media Pro, especially as I'm expected to part with money for it!
Thanks... 😊

sorry of disappointing you.
but a lout of users hier in forum are asking Phase One support about this issue 💡 but Phase One is not moving really fast to fix this problems !... it look like they have a big problem integrating C1 8.2 and MP1.5 together ...
which i don't believe 😕0 -
The reason for Media Pro is that it supports files that C1 Pro Catalog doesn't.
That being said, if you want to send a file to C1 for editing there are a couple of things you need to do first.
Please read the instructions completely before proceeding.
Open Capture one and Create a session. Name it something you can remember later on. "Media Pro Edits" would be a good name.
Close C1.
In Media Pro, under catalog fields, create a catalog set. Call It "Capture One Edits".
Once this is created, drag any files you want to edit in C1 into "Capture One Edits" . (You just created this)
Click on the catalog set. You should see the files you just dragged in.
Right Click on any files in that catalog set. Then "open with C1".
What should happen next is C1 will open in sessions, ALL the files in that set will appear, and you can edit in C1.
The reason you need to create this Catalog Set is simple:
If you right click on a single file in the general Media Pro catalog, Capture One will attempt to open every file in the catalog. So its best to create a Catalog Set of only the files you want to edit in C1.
Here's the catch: Any edits you make in the latest version of C1 will not reflect in Media Pro. This is something Phase One needs to work out.
However, the edits will stay put. So if you edit a photo in C1 close it, then reopen it in C1, your edits will still be there. You just can't see them in Media Pro.
I'm not defending their methods, just telling you how it works.0 -
thanks Jummy for what did you write hear.
i thing this theme has been told many times hier .
a professional programs are named with there ability ! so way users are getting confused or disappointing hier, because they are not getting this ability and what been promised to them !
sorry the solution you wrote hear , don't mach or satisfy my workflow and i thing the authors professional Photographers also.
one of the reason way not working with Sessions in C1 ❗️ its slow down your C1 performance read my post hier ...
with my only one main Catalog in C1 i works very fast .
Phase One should send us a fast solution for this issue. better to say they should
send there customers a rating list about MP functionality, to get from us back honest feedback or reclamation .0 -
Thank you for your very valued input gentlemen.
It look like I'll remove Media Pro from my computer as it doesn't (read can't) do what I want and will keep an eye open for a future version that does what it should do.
Thanks again, it is appreciated...0 -
I wish I had found this thread 6 hours ago! I use C1P catalogs.
I thought I had a configuration issue or it was because Media Pro was still loading its catalog from around 80k files. Jumping through all those hoops just to move between M1P and C1P to process images will be an unworkable waste of time.
Seem it hasn't moved on effectively since Phase 1 took it over. Oh well, back to Capture 1 and PhotoMechanic, I will have to resurrect iMatch if I need to use DAM.0 -
Hi,
i am not sure if this helps - but give it a try. i am just switching to Capture One and also will try the Media Pro App.

Hi Andreas,
I am curious to here if if you continued with your plans to switch to C1 and Media Pro.
I am in the same situation and cannot understand from reading different posts if this is a workable solution or not.
I am leaving Aperture and I am not interested to join Lightroom.
Best regards

I know you weren't talking to me but..
If I were you, I would see if C1 catalog does everything you need to do first. The reason is that C1's learning curve can be quite long and fooling with two new softwares will just make things worse.
Also, Media Pro doesn't work well with C1 at this point, and Phase One has been tight lipped on whether or not they will continue to develop Media Pro. So why take the gamble?
BTW, keep in mind that Media Pro is NOT color managed like LR or C1. All it does is give you an idea of what the photo is. The colors are simply inaccurate.
If they do release an updated version of Media Pro, you then have the advantage of following the forums to see if everything is indeed fixed before throwing your money at it.
I'm not bashing Media Pro, I actually enjoyed using it. However I cannot use it so it sits idle on my desktop awaiting an update that may or may not come.0 -
a lot of Aperture user are getting humble in this forum i am the one how want to talk about Experiences....
never compare C1 + Media Pro with Apple Aperture , C1 7 , 8 is for me right now limited and need to bee reworked, many working thinks are missing or don't works correctly , it still have some good RAW tools Wightbalnce, Color,.. it still keeps me sad to read in this forum the upset and disappointment others users for such software like Media Pro ... then phase one showed me enough no support interest for it.
sorry ... i am paying hear for only converting RAW to TIFF i can't really manage or rework my pictures smoothly like athours vendors ..
really Phase one ... its not Ferry to call this a alternativ to Aperture. i call it .....
Phase One don't talk to Media Pro and you still won't like reading in this forum.0 -

I own that as well. I'm not too impressed with it.
At first it seemed like a great alternative, but to be honest, its just too slow for my liking. Media Pro is way faster at rendering and scrolling through images.
It's supposed to honor any changes in C1, which is great. However C1's catalog is now faster than Photo Supreme so it's not much use in that regard.
Also I'm not fond of its UI, but that's a matter of taste and just learning something new.
Some folks are using LR as a DAM and just creating a preset to open the raw files in C1 for editing, then saving the jpegs or Tiffs back into LR. I have done this in the past with great success. And now that you can get LR and PS for just $10.00 a month, its really a no brainer. I have found a use for all three softwares, depending on the image.
LR and C1 play well together on a referenced catalog, so why not have both?
You can try Adobe Bridge. It looks like they may have made some changes in it. I'm downloading it now to see whats up with it.0 -
just $10.00 a month
the explain for that :
$10.00 a month * 12 = 120 $ year
athors vendors the same politik use. evrey year you have to pay for a new relase
up to you baying it or not !
did you find somthing complitly coverded to your work ? ------ > to get that you have to bay them All 💡
way not a donate for opensource developer 💡0 -
Adobe Bridge
Bridge is not a DAM but a Browser. You will 'touch' every file instead of the PIE construction of Media Pro, Lightroom en other Real DAM's. There is benefit for browsers also of course but they have other characteristics and applications.
One example of what you don't find in browsers are catalog sets for organizing your pictures (collections in LR).
However i liked Bridge a lot, especially when i started in digital photography. The 'layered' approach in a DAM was to abstract for me. I wanted to see immediately what happened to my files. If i added some keyword, i wanted them to show up whenever the application i used for watching it.
Only i a few years i changed my mind over this. It's real a great bennefit not touching the file every time you work on it. From a safekeeping perspective anyway.0 -
