Capture One has unexpectedly stopped working (v. 6.2)
Hi,
I upgraded to the 6.2 version (PRO) and it's taking forever to load my sessions.
I often make contact sheets for colleagues, but CO1 crashes quite often, with the message:
"Capture One has unexpectedly stopped working"
Am I the only one?
Can I reinstall the program without damaging my sessions and files? - And will it help!?
(Btw. I am still new to CO1 and I'm not the biggest "computer-geek")
Thank you đ

Hi J.,
Yes, you can. But first make a backup of ALL your data and reinstall. If something goes wrong (very unlikely) you can copy back from backup.

First, if you like to do a re-installation or like to go back to a previous version or new version, always UNINSTALL the current installation first.
As for 6.2 and later on Windows, you need .NET Framework 4.0 for it. The CO installer will install this automatically, but I have seen reports here that a separate installation before CO 6.2.x gain better results in stability. You can download .NET Framework from the Microsoft download site (there is a thread on that from my hand here on the forum).
When you uninstall CO6, all your work and sessions will be save. That does not prevent you from making backups, of course.
That said, often a refresh of the preferences and session files, clean-up of the batch queue history results in better performance than a reinstallation.0 -
Hi guys
Thank you. I will try ti reinstall it all.
I have already got the .NET Framework 4.0, but intalled it at the same time, as the upgrade.
Thanks đ0 -
Just to let say that 6.2.1 is doing the same here âšī¸
This is on Windows 7 64bit, C2Duo 3GHz, 8GB RAM, SSD system drive and 1TB data drive.
I seem to be able to edit for 5-10 mins, and then bang. Given that I only bought it yesterday, I'm a bit disappointed to say the least.
I hope that 6.2.2 will resolve this issue fairly swiftly.0 -

Withoout more information and a support case it's impossible to say what "this issue" is.
Certainly, 6.2.1 is as solid as a rock on my my Win 7 64 bit/Quad Core/8 gb RAM machine, converting Canon 7D files into 16 bit tiffs...0 -
Hi Keith,
It's encouraging that your setup is stable. I have opened a support case, but yet to hear anything.
All my other graphics software is stable, hence the surprise at the crashes.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Disabling updating graphics drivers and disabling opencl has solved my crashing problem, (so far!).
The card is an ATI 4850 512MB btw.
Hope that helps anyone else experiencing problems.0
