    Hi Bill,
    In general I think you can say that CO 4.6 Pro is more demanding on hardware than 3.7.x was. Any optimization of your system might help a bit but do not guarantee the same performance as with the previous version. Any chance you can share some hardware specs with us to get an idea?

    Hi Paul;

    Thanks for your reply! My hardware is Windows XP Pro with a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz processor, 4Gb of RAM and an ATI video card with 512 MB of video memory.

    Have a super day!

    Hi Bill,

    I am afraid I am already pretty sure what the bottleneck is in your Capture One system. Certainly a nice computer system you have, but CO4.x preview redraw is very processor intensive and your Pentium 4 will be very busy with it all the time, letting you wait till its finished. Progress has a price I am afraid.
    Current systems with Core 2 Duo (or Quad) type of processors will handle the task far more easily.

    Paul,

    I was afraid you would tell me what you mention about processor speed, etc. I have been seriously thinking about buying a new machine with a Quad processor. Thanks again. Have a super day!

    If all else is good on your machine just upgrade the processor to a quad core. I just did this on two computers. They perform much better now. Less expensive than new computers if that is all that is needed

    Ted;

    Thanks for your reply - I was just thinking about upgrading the processor last week. My two Gateway machines are about 6 years old so I would have to check on how upgradeable the processor is.

    Have a great week!
