Preview Problem, EM2 with Capture 5
Hello everybody,
I am the first time in this forum. But now thousands of pictures are located on my computer harddisk, sorted by the year and a description (holiday in…, zoo, flowers, family…) as second criteria. It is not really simple to find all or some pictures with e.g. flowers or birds. Therefore I start working with Expression Media 2 one month ago. Together with Capture NX (CNX) it works not bad. The changes I made in the NEF data (not converted to JPG, TIF because I like to work with the RAW format as long as possible) I see in the previews of EM2.
I have tested now Capture One 5.1.2 RAW converter (CO5) and I like it a bit more than CNX. But I can’t find a way to see the results of the modified RAW files. It seems to be always the basic version with the camera settings. I think the reason will be the different way how the RAW converters operate. CNX include the changes into the file and CO5 writes the modifications to files beside the originals.
Has anyone experience with EM2, together with CO5 and an idea how this problem can be solved?
P.S.: I am a German native speaker and I hope that my English is good enough that you can understand what I want to say.
Thank you in advance for your help
Hans

Hans,
EM2, or any other DAM application for that matter, cannot see/read the changes made by CNX2 to NEF files as they are in effect Nikon secrets! What EM2 does see is an updated jpg that CNX2 embeds into the NEF after processing. CNX2 actually embeds two jpgs, one small preview and a full size image. I use CNX2 as I think nothing processes a NEF better.
I do not use capture 5 but I believe that it does not write anything to the NEF. In order to see the changes made by Capture 5 you will have to export to a tif or jpg - perhaps a Capture 5 user will provide more information.0 -
So glad you brought this subjet... (p.s. in french speaking so it might be also a problem to read me).
I ingested my raw files with CO5 and then converted to .Tiff and transfer to EM2 but in EM2 I can not see the updated correction that was applied to my .tff files. Is there something I don't do correctly.

@francnord:
If you develope an image new, wich is in your EM catalog yet, you have to rebuild this image to see it correct .
So mark the image and go to "action -> rebuild item". Then you will see the new version of your image.0 -

Hum I try what Lindi suggest, but it seems that's not working.
Once I do ajustement in CO5 then do the treatment and send it in EM2 as a .tiff or either .jpg files the colors that is on EM2 are not exactly the same, they are always either more red or lack of clarity. If I do the same action wich is send it in Lightroom 2 than it's almost identical than the one in CO5.
I will liked to have EM2 as my catalog, but I want to see as close as possible the same variation in the rendering.
So I guess I will have to stick to lightroom for my catalog..... or any suggestion. I download the Best Practice and I made sure that all the setup are Ok for both. Does anyone experience the same issue??

Images in preview mode are not colour managed, untick the preview box so you are viewing the actual images and they should display as you expect.
Not a ideal solution and you think it would be easy enough to colour manage previews as everyone else can do it!0
