Canon 17-40mm Default Lens Profile for 5D MkIV...?

Is the 17-40mm recognised in Lens Correction tool when you import your 5D MkIV raw files. Do you use full raw or s/mraw? (although that should not matter in CO10, if I am correct). Have you not accidentally disabled automatic lens correction?

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the lens is recognized in the Lens Correction Tool. It's full name appears in the header.

CA is checked as is Hide Distorted Areas.

But, there is definite pincushion distortion, something which was automatically eliminated with photos from my 1Ds Mkiii.

Moving the slider to exactly 100% each time eliminates it; something I never had to do with 1Ds Mkiii files.

My 45mm Tilt/Shift - a lens which doesn't have an inbuilt C1 profile - needs about 15-20% correction for barrel distortion.

Oddest of all is my 50mm 2.8 Macro, a lens which also has a C1 profile and is also recognized by C1's Lens Profile when files are loaded from it. Again, there is evident barrel distortion when used with the 5D MarkIV. It was flawless, as you would expect a macro to be, when used with the 1Ds Mkiii.

    Weird!

    D.

That sure is weird. I would contact support. I do not have an explanation or resolution of this.

Is there any possibility that there may be a default adjustment (preset or style) used for the 1D4 files on import that might be applying and adjustment to all lenses. i.e. it's associated with the body?

    Grant,

Not that I can see under Adjustments/Auto-adjustments or Adjustments/Styles.

This is a fresh install (new computer) and I've done nothing with C1 except loads files into it.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi Dinarius,

I have noticed that there a setting "Disable Default Lens Correction" under the three dot menu in the top right of the Lens Correction tool. If this is checked and you import new images the distortion correction will be off by default.

Uncheck this option and newly imported images should start with "Chromatic Aberration" and Distortion enabled.

If this is not the problem then I assume for some reason the default distortion correction for the 5D IV is 0.

    Hope this helps
