Keeping the Original File Number

To keep the entire name including the DSC use the 'Image Name' token when renaming. As far as I can tell there is no automation in Capture One that will separate the DSC part of the file name from the numerical part of the name.

But if you were to import all of the original files from the memory card in numerical order, eg. DSC_1035 - DSC_1135, you could then do a batch rename to all of the images and remove the 'Image Name' token and add the '4 Digit Counter' token then set the output counter to the corresponding number of the first image in your set of images, eg. 1035. Then you'll end up 100 files in numerical order from 1035 - 1135, matching the original file numbers.

I wouldn't know in C1 as I always do file naming when importing through Photo Mechanic, which is able to use your camera's file numbering system. Another option is to get an app called 'Name Wrangler' and use it to change names prior to loading all files in C1. It's incredibly versatile and will allow you to truncate names etc.

You can always use the Find and Replace functionality within batch renaming, replacing 'DSC_' with whatever you need. 😊

Thanks for this info, I wasn't aware of that feature. It works great!
