While we are waiting for the compatibility for the D800, D4 & 5d Mk111, and discussing work arounds in the meantime.
I have been using Nikon camera control, the live view feature is incredibly useful if you are a still life/food photographer.
Phase have had this feature for years for their P+ series backs, so can we please have it for dslr's....? Are we allowed to make requests....? Really don't want this subject locked down....! 😄

Phase's system is far better than the Nikon version as it is possible to use an overlay, this as you can imagine is a great advantage if you shoot for packaging; being able to apply the layout over the live view can save hours....

I spoke to Nikon at BVE earlier in the year about the possibility of adding this feature (Overlay in live view) to capture control, only to be told that this is decidedly not going to happen. ☹️

This would be a major step forward for Capture One, even if it is only available for the Pro version of the software. I'm
sure the Canon users would appreciate this add on as well.

Live view for DSLR is a bit OT for this thread - hence why requests or communications directed at Phase One are best made in a support case so we can track it properly. Other wise you chance it that one of the forum admins just happen to be reading your post... 😉

For the record, this is primarily a user to user forum.

What's the point in sharing on this forum.

I was discussing the merits of the live view feature of Capture One and Capture control and the difference between them..... 😄

I fear that a support case on this subject may be ignored, as it may conflict with the usage/sale/marketing of Phase backs..... 😄

Fear not - support do not decide on the merits of a feature request but we are the correct people to ask if you want it.

We will add to the list all and any that are asked for by our users via the support channel, irrespective of DSLR or back.

I think and enhancement request for Capture Pro to have the LiveView feature would be a good request.
In fact it would be very useful in many situations.
If it was possible for the output to be also shown on a remote device like in Capture Pilot then I am sure very many people would want this.

I recently purchased the D4 and D800. The old cameras are gone. For the first time in many years, I am unable to use my preferred RAW developer.

Tomorrow we shoot with another product that supports the two new Nikons. The shoot requires tethering.

I am looking forward to seeing how amazing the D800 can be when the files are processed in C1. I hope it is sooner rather than later.

We´re still waiting for the next update for the new Nikon and Canon cameras - it´s really annoying and not professional! The D800 is about one month on the market.. Sorry guy´s, I really like C1 but this is really a no-go!

Hopefully the reason is... we will get full lens support and live-view!?

From what I understand, Nikon has not released the SDK yet. That would explain why there is no tethering yet. You can use the manufacturer software to tether or a certain computer manufacturer's all-in-one product. It works - I used it last week.

I am sure we will see tethering from Phase soon. In the long run, it is with waiting for it.

D800 File support, but, no tether support yet? When? I count on Capture One and the Capture Pilot for shooting!

give Nikon a call and look for a workaround in the mean time.

Until Nikon release an SDK for the 3rd party developers that support D800 a workaround is available if you have Camera Control Pro:

The work around works great. You don't even need to register Camera Control, just download it for the needed file.

Capture One 6.4.3 is released today. It has tethering support for the Nikon D800/D800E as well as the D4.
