Generate Thumbnails when project is moved
Hi Folks,
When shooting we use sessions.. We transfer all files to a laptop.. Once the shoot is finished we copy the project folder to our retouchers desktop. Once the session is opened on his desktop every files are re generated. I sometimes take the folder to my home (copy of it), again every image is regenerated. All the computers Cache image size matches; default 2560. We use pack as eip option. This is very annoying and time consuming. Anybody have experiencing this problem ?
Thanks

Thumbnails are located in in folder named "Capture One/Cache/Thumbnails"
Such a folder tree, starting with a "Capture One" folder exists in the session folder, and in every folder within it that contains images.
It sounds like you are copying the files but not the the "Capture One" folder0 -

Since I am using sessions... all the cache folders are already in Capture/(Shotname)/Capture One/Cache/Thumbnails
What I am doing is copying the parent folder.... So everything is copied together..with the COT files..
Side Note.. I shoot and transfer my images to a macbook pro.. and then transfer them to mac my pro and generates every thumnail from scratch.. Then when i need to work at home I copy the files on my mac pro to an external transfer to my home mac pro which is exactly the same config with my work mac pro and again every file is regenerated..

Are your all of your settings and selected process recipes, etc, the same on all machine(s) to which you are copying?
Is working with eip files having some influence on this process?
Are you still working with Version 10 or is this an old session. (The screen looks like V10 rather than V11 but that is not necessarily definitive.)

1- Yes they are the same.. Identical.. Would it really effect
2-I am not sure actually. But it shoud not.. We have been using eip almost for a decade
3-yes v10.. but as you mentioned v10 should not have this problem as well.0 -
I think you should probably discuss this with the Capture One support team if you have not already done so.
I believe there are situations where both thumbnails and previews may be recalculated although this may be in memory after loading rather than as part of the copy.
However the original .cot file names from Sept 16th look a little unusual and would not match to the file names of the EIP files. I note also that the Previews are being regenerated.
I am not a user of EIP files so have no observations to make from experience but my understanding is that the EIP file is basically a zipped type of file with all .cos file and other edit information included.
How that works with a complete copy of of a session, nominally including the.cos files as well) I am not sure.
There may be some potential for duplication?

Just for completeness - here is the User Guide page relating to the use of EIP files.
https://help.phaseone.com/en/CO11/Expor ... s/EIP.aspx
I include this in case it is useful for highlighting any steps that may be different between your usual practise and what is recommended in case that may be relevant to what you are seeing but may not have been relevant previously.

Grant, thank you for trying to help me.. I have read the document you shared and I am using the "Automatically convert all Phase One digital files to .EIP" method as told.. Actually as told EIP packs the original image and the settings date into one file; it does not contain any thumbnail, preview or focus file in it. As you mentioned as well capture one folder and related content is on charge of those.. I do not what to say, everything is by the book and there is actually nothing complicated for me the make any mistakes to be having this problem 0 -

Do you unpack the eip files as well? After the move/copy?
The new Thumbnail's names sort of suggest they are related to the EIP files not the original RAW files within them
So if you have copies the cop and cot files with the original .[RAW Type] extension the names will not match the .EIP files.
Now I don't use EIP files and so I am certainly not the person to advise about this BUT based on the names generated that would seem to be a logical suggestion.
If it worked previously what can you think of that is being done differently or may have changed a little in the process?
