Help With Shooting Tethered
Well, been a long time since I had to work with installing and adding cameras to be able to shoot tethered...so I have C1 5.0 and Mark II 1Ds and Mark III 1D I am trying to get hooked up. We are not using the digital backs, just USB/Firewire from Camera to computer. What files/drivers do I need to get everything working and transfering between camera and computer? Should be simple enough, just been WAY too long.
Thanks Everyone!

Let's start with the 1Ds mkII and look what the CO 5.0.1 release notes has to say: For Canon 1D Mark II, 1Ds Mark II, 1D Mark II N: These cameras only support remote capture
via the FireWire port. Clear any messages on the LCD panel of the camera before connecting
the camera, otherwise capturing will be disabled.
You might need to install the WIA driver for XP or Vista (different drivers) to be able to connect to the 1Ds mkII.
For the 1D mkIII I believe no driver is necessary and it connects through USB (no firewire on camera).
Both cameras: you must be using a 32-bits Windows version, not a 64-bits version and the Pro version of CO 5.x.0 -
Well we have a 64bit version of Windows... What does C1 V4 require? We are updating a lot of our computer/laptops to Windows 7. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

After having setup a Windows 7 (x64) system with Capture One 501 tonight, I reconsidered my previous statement regarding the need for a 32-bits OS. For cameras that need no driver from their manufacturer it does not make sense. I did the test with a Canon 5D mkII and it tethered without problems.
For the older (firewire connected) Canon however, I am not so sure it will work. The Canon WIA driver for the 1D/Ds mkII is for 32-bits Windows XP or Vista. Will probably work on Win7 (32bits) but even that is not officially supported. I don't know what Canon is going to develop but my expectations are low here.0 -
I got around to testing the MarkIII 1D again. Works perfectly right now. So no problems with Windows 7, C1 5.0.... so I will have to play around with the MarkII 1Ds when we shoot multiple jobs... Wonder how long it will be till the MarkIV will be supported, plan on getting that when it comes out soon 😊 0 -

A couple of Canon staff I have spoken to say there are no plans for any further software support for the firewire cameras. Personally I think that's a mistake, but there you are.
