Demo version Capture One 7 mac
I have installed Demo version 7. installed on Mac pro 10.7.5
I have adjusted an image with the software and I have created an adjustment layer for a local area.
However when I export the file the adjustment layer is not applied to the image.
I cannot apply the local correction to the image, there is no way of "flatting" the image with adjustments as in photoshop.
I have tried as many different variations , apply layer adjustments ad nosium but still the adjustment in the layer is not exported with the file. Adjustments made to the background layer export correctly.
The Demo version is fully functional according to the download information. This feature may not be available for the demo.
I dont want to waste time trying to fix the problem if it has been disabled.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
David

What kind of image file? 0 -
It is correct that the demo version is fully functional, so whatever your issue is, it is NOT the result of just using trial version.

David,
Did you Export or or did you Process the file?
Export will just export the original file in the format you specify. If the original was a RAW file base level RAW conversion will have been applied before the Export to make the data look like a photo.
"Process" will (or should) apply the edits and give you a new file in the format you specify in the Process Recipe. This is the equivalent of a 'flattened' file.
If you are using Process but not getting the expected result then something may not be correct and further consderation will be required.
HTH.

Good question. However, Export > Original does what Grant states. Export > Variant is similar to processing and creates a Tiff or Jpeg from the raw file plus adjustments.
Flattening is default during processing, not something done in CO7 itself. CO7's adjustments layers are not process to Tiff as a Photoshop layer either.0 -
Thanks for your help.
The original file is a RAW file.
I have tried to process the file but I get a dialogue box saying there are no enabled "recipe" to process. I must enable at least 1 recipe in order to process the selected variants.
There are no menu choices to create a recipe. I did find that a recipe is usually used for multiple outputs and I did manage to add the "output tool" to the menu bar and created a recipe (I note that the recipe is similar to the choices when selecting export from the top right Icon) I was then able to process the image but still no layer applied to the output.
I have tried to apply the local adjustment layer ( a mask to select the area, a hue saturation change, I see it on screen but not in the output. I can turn it on and off), process the file then exported variant from the menu bar as well as the export varient button. Still I do not get the local adjustment showing in my output file.
I have deleted the adjustment layer and created a new one, created a second one, still no joy.
Overall adjustment made to the background work, but not the layers.
Still perplexed

There need be no great mystery to process recipes. You go to the process tab (click on the icon with th single cogwheel). You probably will see some listed under the Name heading, but It's so long since I started using C1 that I can't remember what this looked like "out of the box". But if none are shown, you click on the + symbol and add one. You can select things like whether you want to process as a JPG or TIFF file (or other options). If JPG, you can select the quality factor. If TIFF you can select 8 bit or 16 bit and so on. And lot of other options. I have created a few and given them suitable names. So I have one that is called JPG 85 (processes to a JPG file at a quality setting of 85) and another called 1024 which processes to a JPG with a 1024 pixel longest side for web use (and it automatically gets output to a sub folder called web).
You can't process a file without at least one recipe enabled. You can enable more than one at a time, so for instance I can use my JPG 85 recipe to produce a full size JPG file and at the same time use the 1024 recipe to produce a small web-suitable file of the same image.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply.
I have a recipe.
I click the cogg'd wheel to process all selected variants. There is no indication this is working as I do not get any progress bar or dialogue window as I do with most other menu choices.
All the colour corrections, exposure, HDR, sharpening etc are exported and appear correct in the final file,
however none of the layers/mask adjustments are exported.
I cannot make a local adjustment without layer masks.
I have asked Phase One to confirm the Demo is fully functional but they have yet to respond.
Thanks

For my clarification, a question.
When you mention that the layer adjustment is not exported, does that mean that
a) the adjustment (for example: darkened sky) is not reflected in the output file
b) the layer is not in the exported file as layer in Photoshop.
Capture One should support option a), but does not support b).
Another question
Can you give more details about your workflow, version of software, kind of adjustment in layer and raw file and export format?0 -
Hi
I have tracked down the problem.
The camera raw files I chose would open and convert in Photoshop camera raw to output properly, however the selected .RAF files were from an older camera and would not work in CaptureOne. I chose a .RAF raw file I shot last week from a newer camera and all worked as I expected.
Who would have thought it was the camera raw file problem, not CaptureOne!!!
I have also adjusted a raw file from an iQ180 80MP back, wow
All is good, I'm impressed.
Thank you for your help
Kind regards
David0
