I have Capture one 4.8.1 and when I open an image ( RAW or jpeg ) there is a definite colour cast. Whites are almost cream coloured. I have been using auto white balance in camera.

I posted a similar issue some time ago. I have an Olympus E3 and opening any raw file, there is usually a color cast, but mainly with indoor shots, which look just downright Yellow. Somehow Capture One doesn't interpret the raw files from the E3 correctly.
I've tried out Lightroom, and there's certainly no color cast there, so it ís possible.

After two months I've decided to stick with Capture One, because despite color casting, it still produces superior images to my eyes.
I just wish Phase One redid the Olympus E3 generic profile, because it's not very encouraging to have to readjust white-balance on almost every shot, especially when you know that Olympus E3 auto-whitebalance is actually very accurate most of the time.

Thanks Chris. Apart from this I'm very pleasd with the software. I've read a few reviews on RAW software and Capture One comes out top or near top in terms of detail etc. I have Bibble also and whilst it was great for my Pentax images it's not so good with canon.

you can try to make a profile yourself - get colorchecker or IT8 target... that will cost you ~USD $50... unless you will find a friend who already has it.
