Funny enough a couple of years ago it was Mac guys making post like this and maybe we will never get around a lag on one or the other side but this is current status.
Capture One Windows is currently being rewritten from the ground up.
This is the version that will become 4.0.
This is something that is not done overnight, the version we have now is from -98 and has been developed on for 8 year (!!!!) so you must understand that this is not a quick fix.
We did this on Mac for version 3.0 some people were even slight disappointed when it came out but saw that features was added in a very rapid rate.
This is what is now being done with the Windows version. Probably you will be even disappointed by version 4.0 but the following version will make you very happy.

By saying all of this we are not treating Windows users less then Mac users, with the amount of resources being put in to Windows development we acknowledge how important our Windows users are and that it is a platform we are committed to.

    thanks Ulf,

thats kind of good news, but I've been hearing about this 4.0 since last Fall, and nothing has appeared... any chance of seeing it soon?

otherwise let me know if you need any beta testers. I'm very Raw converter aware, and am running canon cameras and your backs. on a quad core x64 workstation with 16Gb RAM.

    thanks,

    Ulf,

v4.0 is still more than 6 months away (for final release - not beta, not unsupported release candidates....actual release date). Right?

Are you saying that even v4.0 will not bring Windows features to the same level as Mac features?

yes, can you at least bring on quad-core support for PC's?

it's excrutiating watching my P45 files slowly churn away on 1.5 cores (out of 4)
(and knowing that you supported it in Apple within 3 weeks of their quad machines being announced !)

what about an orderly queue? PC's had quad core first by many months! 😊

seriously, its been a year for Windows quad cores, and really we need this fixing...

One of the things with the forum rules is that we do not talk about none existing products, but I know it is hard. It is way to exciting 😄

Lets see if I can give an answer to all your questions:

    1. We have full support for 2 CPU's in Capture One Windows. Why we have so quick support for quad on Mac is because of following two reasons:
a: Apples xCode makes it far simpler to implement.
b: Windows 2000 and XP only supports 2 CPU's, granted we do support Windows 2003 unofficially with in the Portrait One solution but so far it has not been a major request for quad processing support.
    2. Yes I am saying that 4.0 maybe will not answer all your prayers but implementation of new features will go far quicker then now.
    3. Time frame I will not go in to when this is I will leave up to the official channel.

Actually Win2000/XP supports two processors - each of which can be 2 core and - when they become available 4 or more cores. Thus four core machine running Windows 2000 or XP are a reality and 8 core machines can not be far away.

...and have been a reality for a year now!

which is why its so painful to watch C1 only working on 2 (or less) cores.

Raw Shooter Premium really flies on all four cores, and does a 1Ds2 file in 4seconds! (unfortunately they dont support P45, though..)

Please Ulf, can you ask them to try and get it working on 4 cores before 6 months? (when quad cores will be out in PC)
