edit: more perplexing is that I can't seem to figure out how to print an overlay in CO...?? any help appreciated!!

In the print dialog, you can use the Watermark feature.

The Overlay feature is not printed or processed. The Watermark feature is both available for printing as it is for processing.

Thanks- Any tips on how to reduce keystrokes in a workflow that must print frequently (eg event)... Ideally I'd like to shoot, view, edit, print in rapid succession... One thing I notice I can't do that I can do in LR is to have 'develop settings' ..I crop to scale to 5x7 print automatically in LR and my overlay displays the cropped photo (vs the original).... I'm getting the feeling that CO isn't the best tool for my event workflow needs....If anyone uses it as such, would appreciate understanding your workflow...thanks

You can set a crop ratio in the crop tool or crop cursor tool (toolbar, centre). You can link the crop ratio to output file destination if you set it in the process recipe and select Output in the crop ratio tool.

thanks.... looks like you are not able to preview a cropped photo automatically upon capture....meaning take the photo, iCO imports as a cropped 5x7 automatically and allows me to see the cropped photo with an overlay without user input. Is that right?

FWIW, learning this product is difficult esp when the user manual isn't even searchable! Im sure CO has many great features but learning them is a bear...esp workflow...yes, I know there are videos but they are time consuming and not very helpful... wish there were more books around for CO as for LR....

    Yes, that assumption is right.

hmmm...that is unfortunate... I read in a forum somewhere that CO can do that (capture and display cropped photo realtime) but I guess not.... ☹️ thx

    Edit: http://blog.phaseone.com/category/capture-one-workflow/

They claim in this post that you can "stack this Preset with a Preset that turns your image into a square crop format and with a Preset that adds some general color corrections."

I cannot find how to add cropping information to a preset...it only offers me exposure, contrast, brightness and saturation preset options...any idea where I would find this?

Instead of a Preset, you can create a Style to store a particular crop. Create a Style from the Adjustments tool tab or the Adjustments menu.

Note that in a Style you can store adjustments from different tools, where a Preset is limited to a single tool.
