Laggy masking in CO8.1

Noticing that masking using the brush/erase tools is horrifically laggy (as in, I can draw a shape, release the tablet button, and get to wait a second or so for what I drew to finish appearing...). Running a mid2011 iMac 27 3.4 with 24G RAM, and drawing in 'Fit' on both P45 and Canon 5D2 images. Switching OpenCL on Display to 'off' or 'Auto' doesn't seem to make much of a difference, and I have previews set to 2560px. Anything I can do to speed things up?

  Same issues here.
  
  Have noticed its slightly more responsive using a mouse rather than the Wacom.

  I noticed this too. So now we can have some 16 layers in C1 8.1, but using them is so awkward that I end up not using layer masking with the brush at all. By the way: pressure sensitivity with my wacom is gone too.

  Try setting "Always Display Mask (m)" during masking, can help with the speed (in my case it was a slight improvement).
  BTW, I'm using the mouse.

  Same here, very laggy. Using Wacom Intuos 4. Not really useable at the moment, takes an age to do anything.
