convert to monochrome

Hi there first post, Im sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find anything on the search. What's the best way to convert my Raw images to Monochrome using C1 4. Or is it better convert as a Tiff and then using something like Elements 6, to do the converting to monochrome.

  Slide the he saturation slider all the way down to zero. If you open the help PDF, and search for the "monochrome", you will find much useful info.

  ....Paul gives one method, you might also try the BW profiles Phase One supplies under Base Characteristics>ICC Profiles>Effetcs, very nice looks. There develop as 24 bit RGB files so you would need an image editor to change to 8 bit if that's your goal....
