I'm a big fan of Capture One and have used it since Version 3. It is not a substitute for the image editing functions in Photoshop. But it does the raw processing function of the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in to Photoshop, plus a bit more. If ACR basically does what you need then Capture One is an excellent replacement in my opinion. If, however, you frequently use Photoshop to do things like content aware fill or replacing image elements then Capture One will be limiting (just as Lightroom is).

    Thanks for that.

How does Capture One 7 compare with Canon's DPP software (Digital Photo Prof. ?) ....way better ?

You can download a fully functional program, with 60-day trial. Note that a single download can run (during trial) in three modes:

Pro > all features (paid license)
Express > limited features (paid license)
DB > all features but for data back files only, not DSLR files (free)

During trial period you can switch between Pro and Express.
