    Hi,

I love Capture One, by far the best raw converter on the market.
I miss two things to have it really perfect:

    1) adjustable opacity of layers
    2) quick shortcut to change grid type when cropping (I haven't found it, I'm sorry if it's already there).

    Thank you

As John Doe suggested, create a Support Case with Enhancement Request: in the title..

For 1) .... do you mean a global adjustment of opacity for the layer after it has been created?

    In the mean time;

For 2) .... you can set a short cut key to turn the Grid on and off but not change the grid style.

However to change the style relatively quickly you have the the option to access the Preferences options using the three sub-menu dots at the top right corner of the Crop tool window. The select Preferences and it will drop you into the Crop preferences tab.

You can also open the Crop tool by right clicking on the crop in the image.

If you had not already found that route it may help. You are 3 clicks away from being able to make the change you want to make.

    HTH.

It's in the signature section of John Doe's post. The blue URL after the Red text.

Yes Grant thank you, a global adjustment of opacity for the layer after it has been created, a photoshop like feature!

And coming to grid styles I already use it the way you kindly suggest, but, you know, it's not fast. Should be easy to make it more comfortable..

    Thank you

Glad you already knew about subject 2!

    As for subject one ...

Should the adjust be a flat value - take the entire layer up or down by a number for example?

Or should it be a percentage adjustment of what is currently there pixel by pixel?

There might be some complications if several tools have been used on the same layer.

I sometime use another application that has an opacity feature but in effect each adjustment is a tool on its own layer so control of the opacity adjustment is controlled at that point.

I guess the current option would be to set a large brush and a suitable opacity value to add or remove and then apply it to the entire image? Is that what you currently do?

I manage to reach good results with current layer options in Capture. I just find more convenient the PS layer transparency because in Capture you have pay great attention to the brush settings, and build the result you desire stroke by stroke, If you do too much then you must erase something. I find easier, quicker and more precise to overdo a little bit and then lower a little bit the whole layer opacity. And when I'm done with all my layers work, I find convenient to tweak a little bit each layer opacity instead of look for the single tool I've used and tweak from there. Let's say the skin correction: it's a multiple adjustment tool, I must select the layer, go to color editor, tweak each cursor. It's easier to lower the whole layer opacity at the end. Let's say dodge and burn: I prefer to exaggerate a little bit and then lower the layer opacity, in Capture I must dodge very carefully and if I did too much change to erase brush and delete, but I'll never precisely erase every single dodge stroke I took. Do you understand what I mean?
So: easier to fine tune when you work in a new layer, easier to fine tune at the and when you finish with multiple layers.
Just my opinion of course 😊
