Upgrade Price
Pro 7 is currently $149, but the upgrade price to Pro 7 is $249. Why no love for existing customers? Shouldn't the upgrade price always be $50 below the full version price?

No. It's a purely commercial decision product by product, deal by deal, day by day.
On the other hand you could say that the current upgrade price is $100 below the full version price - something of a bargain. Better than a bargain in fact since you would have a Full new licence as well as your existing licence.

For non-VAT customers, the 149 is a great discount. Something tells me C1PRO7 is reaching its end cycle and version 8 is around the corner. If that is the case, I'm hoping there will be goodies worth upgrading to, particularly to C1PRO's cataloging workflow. I feel version 7's cataloging wasn't ready for prime time.
I agree about the pricing. I just logged into my account and see the price the OP was talking about. Upgrade to 7 PRO from previous iteration is 249. You might as well pay 149 to get the full 7 PRO, bypassing any upgrade paths.
If you have serious photographer friends who are thinking of buying 7 PRO, I think you should tell them about this great savings into the 7 PRO line.0 -

Maybe Ronald.
On the other hand there seem to be many 'Summer Deals' around in the market so it might be a response to those - after all we usually see a few special deals every year.
One or two of the developers seem to have perpetual offers on at the moment. No surprise really since new camera sales (part of the driving force for the marketplace needing to upgrade its software or by software for the first time) seem to be heading lower and lower these past few years. Challenging times for everyone in the industry.

The current cost is a promotion for new users.
Sometimes we run promotions for upgrades at half price to benefit existing customers, sometimes we run promotions to attract new customers.0
