HELP please.
I have a problem with Capture one 6 and my 5DMKII.
Iam a grafic and just started to shot so im not that experienced in this world.
When i take a picture,it just blinks a fragment of a second as a questionmark and disapears.
Im using a new iMac 2,7GHZ with 12GB RAM with Lion and a 5DMKII.
I have tried everything, closed down computer and camera, taken out batteries, changed the tethering cable(its 6m long/18feet) started i don´t know how many sessions, always same problem. Sure sometimes the picture get stuck, like i have read here in loads of different threds, but it workes again when i close and restart.
The program sees the camera, since it pops up every time and i use only the computer to shoot.
I asked some friends that have been working a long time and they never seen or heard about the questionmark....
Please help me,im want to keep my first client 😊
I shoot for 5 weeks before with an old iMac and a D7,with an older version of Capture one and didn´t have any problems really.
This is the difference with experience, when everything goes well you can be a newbie and still "preform" but when there are problems your lost.....

Check two things for shooting tethered with your Canon 5D mkII:
- try a shorter cable (3 feet)
- confirm that you use the latest version of CO 6, in particular because you are on Lion (6.3.2 is current)0 -
I cant really have a shorter cable, maybe a little because the placement of the light board/computer.
Everything should be updated,i downloaded the new pro 6 today(30 days trial) and updated it once.
I will try to shorten the cable and update again tomorrow morning when i get in.
Thank you very much0 -
I tried now and the program was updated and the shorter cable didn't work.
Its still just the question mark that pops up and than disappear with the image.
Im trying now to do it on another computer,to se if that will work.
@everyone
Anyone ever seen this question mark,i have been talking to 2 different friends that has been using CO for years and they never seen or heard about this problem.
Now on the new computer,it doesn't disappear so fast. It says under the question mark emtyname and its counting the pictures but i can't find them in the computer. Now i think i have down something wrong when i make the session but i have followed all the tutorials0 -
Here are a couple thoughts for you!
1/ Create a support case on the phase one site. They are really great at sorting this stuff out, they see it all I guess.
2/ Make sure that the capture naming doesn't have a dot (.) in the naming format.
3/ Under the Next Capture naming make sure the Format sub-menu (click the button with three dots) is set to name and counter.
4/ go to the capture folder in the finder. Are there raw files in there? ending in .cr2?
Finally where is the session located on the hard drive?0 -

Thank you, i will do that 😊

No dots or other signs in the name, just letters.
3/ Under the Next Capture naming make sure the Format sub-menu (click the button with three dots) is set to name and counter.
3 dots,do you mean where to decide to put the folder/images in the beginning of making a session?
I don't know where to set name and counter, never seen or done that what i can remember....
And to answer your last question, i always put it on the desktop so its easy to find.
4/ go to the capture folder in the finder. Are there raw files in there? ending in .cr2?
There are no images and when i search the whole computer for images nothing comes up.
Since i have a brand new computer here are not much in it,so its easy to see/search.
In the library i have all the signs of the camera and "processing wheel" as its supposed to.0 -
i would check if EOS utility sees the camera - that way you know whether its C1P or the computer.
and i always use a USB repeater - very necessary with all macs (except Mac Pro's) in my opinion b/c the mac laptops (and an imac is very close to a laptop) have power issues to the Firewire and USB ports.
iogear makes a good one.0 -

Be careful with EOS Utility on Lion systems, it is currently (2.10.1) not supported. Better check with System Profiler, USB section, whether camera is connected steadily (Cmd+R to refresh screen) or use Image Capture to tether to camera (without Capture One running).0 -
EOS utility doesn't work with Lion yet,i have tried that already.
Iam going to ask the capture one people for help.
I did how ever found the pictures in 1 of the computers that i tried with. For some reason they were under "Macintosh HD" and i don't understand why.
I think now its a "normal" direction problem that i missed even though i followed all instruction and double checked everything.0 -
download the version 2.8 eos utility from the canon support site, it works fine under lion.

After a quick check it seems to work fine, now i at least have this before i figure out why i can't get CP 6 to work properly.
Thank you very much!!!!0 -
to solve your problem i would start by deleting everything in the folder -/library/applicationsupport/capture one and the c1 pref file in your home folder. next i would make sure that the os app imagecapture does not interact and watch activity monitor to see if maybe another programm starts up in the background when you connect your camera.
