Move Catalogs
Capture One catalog newbie. Find it easy to make mistakes.
My catalogs have ended up in the wrong sub directory.
My desire was Capture One Catalogs > catalog folders
What I created was Capture One Catalogs > Sub directory > catalog folders
Can this be corrected by moving the catalog folders using File Explorer?
If not, is there a procedure?
Thanks.

You'll find it easier to move folders from within Capture One so that it knows where everything is.
Just drag n drop in the folder window in Capture One.0 -
Made a test catalog, opened File Explorer from within the catalog, and it would not allow the move because the catalog is open.
Opened another catalog, and moved the test catalog using the file explorer opened in the other catalog.
Then closed and reopened C1, clicked on the test catalog, and it says File Not Found. It refers to the old location.
I "solved" the problem by moving the catalog folder in Windows File Explorer, opening the catalog database file (.cocatalogdb), and C1 sorted out the new location. I assume this is because the actual images had not been moved, just the catalog folder. It appears you can do something similar to rename the catalog file.
I also fooled around with moving folders within the catalog using the C1 file explorer. Some success, some failures. No clue what the difference was. Also solved the problem by reopening the database file directly with the new folder locations, and it asked me to import some images, but everything got sorted out.
This is not the first time I have had problems working in the C1 File Explorer window. It appears to have a restricted set of operations it can safely perform, and no warning when you leave that set. And no documentation on what the "safe" set is.
I love the processing in C1, but the catalogs have been a string of difficult learning experiences. The idea that I am going to trust years of work involving tens of thousands of images to this is pretty sobering.0
