Metadata stripped out

Hi - When I export jpgs from C1 the metadata keeps getting stripped out. I have it checked off to include the metadata in the output recipe, but it strips it out regardless. I have the feeling I am missing something obvious here .... My workflow goes RAW>TIFF>JPG and I add the metadata at the TIFF stage using Photomechanic. Right now I have to switch to Lightroom after adding the data. Can anyone give me some tips?
