ICC profile not working anymore?
Hi guys,
I am a very very happy man with the Film sim support for my Fuji camera's.
So after playing for a while I wanted to use one of my older presets like Lutify or a simple BW profile
I selected a different ICC-profile but nothing seems to work.
Here you can see an B&W effect I selected in the list. Normally the image changes to B&W instantly but now it does not. This is just one I selected but no effect/icc profile I selected works at all.
What am I doing wrong?

In Base Characteristics tool, set the Curve to Film Standard. That will help. 1 -
Thanks Paul, you are a life saver 😊 0 -
Hi,
Does this imply we can't use Lutify Me LUT's in combination with the C1P Fujifilm Film Simulations?

I do not know that, Ivan. Is it an option you try it? I would do it for you if I had the LUT's.0 -
Thanks for your reply Paul. And nope, Lutify Me LUTS and Fujifilm Film Simulations do not work together in my experience.
To use a Lutify Me LUT it is advised to set the Curve to 'Film Standard'. The other C1P built-in Curve options work too, like 'Auto', 'Film extra shadow' and 'Lineair reaction'.
Strangely enough the new Fuji Film Simulations, which you have to select in Curve too, don't. As soon as you select for example 'Fujifilm Astia' the effect of a previously selected LUT disappears. Adding the LUT afterwards has no effect either0 -
What is the effective difference between a 'Curve', A Fujifilm Film Simulation Curve and a LUT?
It occurs to me that the Film Simulations are, in effect in the way Fuji have desired them to be implemented, LUTs.
Can you realistically expect to use two low level curve adjustment tables at the same time?

Probably not. I was just wondering why some Curve options work together with Lutify Me LUTs and others don't.0 -

I think the difference is that the C1 "Film Standard" and similar settings are modifying a generic film look in some way. (Linear is basically no film look, just a colour and exposure interpreted flat file) and so it is reasonable to discard them and use an alternative. Indeed they can be set up via C1's tools.
I think the Film Simulations are more like a LUT value set that replaces the basic C1 generic interpretation to get an accurate film look to Fuji expectations (And Fuji user expectations!), replacing the generic C1 "Film like Look". As such if anything modifies them at that interpretative level they are no longer the Film Look that was selected.
However, if one wished to modify the 'look' during film development and later "output printing" (to use terms somewhat analogous to dark room work) then you can do so but the basic film response to the light reaching it would not have been modified.
The Exception one might suggest would be the use of n-camera filters but they are light modifiers before development so the analogy still holds I think.
