Can't connect with A7r4 ILCE7rm4
Hello.
I can't get CO12.1.3 to see the new a7r4 on USB C or micro USB, or WIFI, or anything.
Please help.
Is it still not supported?
I have it set to PC remote on. Nothing.
PC remote off USB mode MTP nothing.
PC remote off USB mode Mass Storage, it sees the camera as an external drive.
The a7r3 connects easily and so does a9.
Image Edge recognises the camera.
I would like to ideally use WIFI tethering, but I can settle for USB tethering.
Cheers.
Will

The release notes indicate that support was implemented as part of the 12.1.2 release, other than some limitations in Live View.
Given the newness of the camera and the C1 release there may not be many people out there with answers for you. Remember that this is a User to User forum not an official support channel.
You might be better off creating a Support Case and asking Phase One for advice directly.

Thank you Grant.
I already did that. I was just hoping someone may know as there are similar issues reported previously with a7III (ilce 7m3)0 -
Well, I would imagine that you need to make sure that you connection process does not allow Windows to immediately automatically attach (ahead of C1) to the camera (seeing it as a storage device) when you plug it in.
How you do that may be different compared to what you need to do for the older bodies or it may be a "one-time" sort of setting for the newly recognised device. Does the camera's user guide offer any guidance?

Not really Grant.
They only talk about using image edge. Which by the way connects and control the camera when set to PC control0 -
Having the same issue.
I tried my tethertools cable and others. I tried with and without a memory card. I tried after a reboot. I tried on different USB ports. I tried on 2 different computers.
Sidenote: Sony moved the PC Remote menu item to the Network menu. Took me a few min to find.
Sony Imaging software works right away
I am a tech along with a long time C1 and Sony user. My a7R III connects right away.
The only thing I haven't tried is to see if it loads on a machine without Sony Imaging installed (need that software to read my pixel shift images).0 -
Sounds like its time for Support Cases if you have not already created them! 0 -
I have gotten my a7r4 to connect to my iMac using the USBC port. FWIW, I had to call SONY Pro support initially.
They had me go into the NETWORK menu of the camera and set PC Remote to ON, then PC Remote Connect Method to USB. Control by Smartphone was turned OFF.
I ran the SONY Imaging Edge software first. It didn't work at all. I then had to both reboot the camera and my computer which eventually allowed the two to communicate.
Then I ran CO 12.3 and it seemed to allow for both direct capture .
I'm also importing my UHS cards into CO and it seems to be okay.
Question: Will the processing time for CO be much slower for the 61 MP files than with the earlier A7R files? I hope the extra time won't be too prohitive.0 -
Does anyone know when Lie View will be supported on the Sony R4. Kind of useless using with C1 without live view????
Thanks,

If any users of this forum do know, they would be unable to say! The only people who are likely to know would be Phase One staff (and Phase One have a policy of not announcing in advance) or beta testers if they are trying an update that has the feature (and they are prevented from saying anything by a non-disclosure agreement).
It would be a good idea to ask for support for this in a Support case, because Phase One say that the number of requests they receive is a factor in how they prioritise new features.
