Mike,
the only new feature is thew colour moise suppression. The others live on the preference page and were basically a default application to everyphoto. Now you can set a default level then very easily change it within the focus window for every photo. The colour noise works on the noise in individual colour channels as distinct from the overall photo.
The only way you will really see the results is do a number of conversions of one photo with different settings and display it at full screen size.
That is my simple explanation, because that is about my level of understanding0 -
RF Cat - an excellent explanation.
Color Noise Suppression is a new tool with v3.7 In the Preferences, checking the Use Pre 3.7 Standard Color Noise Suppression
will give a default setting to all images. Developers have informed us that improved algorithms were established for version 3.7 that reduces color noise significantly. This means it does not truly turn it off, color noise is being diminished through the algorithm.
At the Focus tool, with Preview Settings checked, you will see the results of the slider adjustments in the image display. The area selected develops that specific area of the RAW file and displays it above.
In general, the lower the ISO the less color noise and unnecessary to reduce color noise. The Camera Default button sets suppression based on camera make/model and ISO setting.
Banding may appear in a sky or in a Low Key shot. We really see this on our digital back images because they have such low noise. The Banding Suppression slider actually adds noise to an image in order to reduce its presence.
The Knowledge Base article #1385 discusses Banding in great detail. It has a link to a very well written white paper regarding Banding.

Testing adjustments and looking at images 100% in Photoshop will truly reveal the results of your adjustments. Then you will become familiar with the amount of adjusting needed and the related output.

Mike,
Phase One does not have anything written on these particular subjects. However, Google searches can really be effective in finding good information.
Here is an article regarding Chromatic Aberration: http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossar ... ons_01.htm
It is from www.dpreview.com which has some very well written articles at the Glossary area. There are a couple regarding Noise and Noise Reduction.
...so much to learn... so little time.
Cheers,
