I should have added that I am using: Mac Pro, Quad-Core Intel Xeon; 2 x 2.8 GHz and 4 GB memory, running Snow Leopard 10.6.4.

Maybe I should add more memory??

I had two hard crashes, and two epic forever spinners. But since then it works quite well. I have OS X 10.6.4 here.

I've had the same problem (Snow Leopard/mac 3.2) and for the first time in years C1 totally froze my computer. Happy memories of OS9...
I removed all the C1 5+6 prefs/session prefs I could find and now seems to work OK.

That is a good idea. I will see how things improve after I get the time to go through and follow your lead. Many thanks.

Advice from Lionel in C1 support was to go to "Preferences" and change the setting for Use OpenCL to "Never". End of problem. Another very happy C1 user!!

We have just released 6.0.1, and you should now be able to utilize OpenCL without crashes.

What is the present answer on Open CL? I upgraded to 6.0.1. Today I had some randomly strange behavior like garbled previews, freezing on tether and inability to connect to my 5DII. I am on a Macbook Pro with 8 Gb of RAM. Mac OS 10.6.5. I had connection issues with 6.0 but the other problems are new. The 6.0.1 seems to have added more problems than it helped.
I just turned off Open CL and will see if that helps.

Different experience - I am now able to have OpenCL enabled in C1 6.0.1 and I have had no issues. All seems to be running very well. Thank you Lionel (and your team)!!

Completely unstable on my i5 17" MBP...

Worked on it for about 4 hours today, closed it, did some photoshop work... opened it, and got a crash when selecting my previous session I worked on ☹️

When I try to send an error report, the window just closes and takes me back to the sessions... selecting my previous session, I crash again... wash, rinse, repeat.

Only way to get it working again was to start a new session...
