SSD Firmware update deactivated C1 Pro 6
I just updated the firmware on my SSD and this caused Capture One Pro 6 to become deactivated.
I realise the activation must identify something unique about the PC but hard drive firmware? Really?
Do I need to deactivate C1 every time I'm about to update anything or will I not run out of activations?
Media Pro didn't become deactivated.

Drive properties are among the more obvious parts of activation process to prevent disk duplication with activated software. This is not unique to CO6, but generic for software.
Fortunately, it is easy to manage your activations with CO6. First you can deactivate before hand. Second, you can reset the activation counter foryour license from the Phase One web site.

As an aside, this problem is not common with all software. it is not a normal process to deactivate all software before someone goes through an upgrade of their hardware or their operating systems. Secondly, if a hardware component fails, like a disk drive, then one does not have an opportunity to deactivate. Capture one is maturing nicely - surely they could do better with their software protection that would be more user friendly for their clients. Having been in the software industry for the last fifty years I can attest that there are better methods of piracy protection... come on guys. 0 -
Interestingly enough, recently I updated the firmware on the OCZ SSD and CO6 was not deactivated.
When the video card is swapped from the AMD Redeon HD 6870 to the NVidia GT 410 card, CO6 did not deactivate. Swapping the card back to Radeon did not cause CO6 to deactivate either.
However when the video card is swapped with another Radeon HD 6670, CO6 is finally deactivated. Very strange.
PhotoShop CS5.1 and Windows 7 did not deactivate on the same machine. Perhaps the algorithm for deactivation in CO6 could be enhanced to avoid false alarms.0 -

You missed the point, you do NOT HAVE to deactivate COne when upgrading components or running OS updates, but it's logical to assume there are issues when replacing disks, or applying firmware that apparently does a virtual replacement...and that's a common issue with most software.
HOWEVER, with COne...you can control your deactivations/activations from any computer acessing the net. MUCH superior to Adobe's protection where a HD crash can cost you an activation. IMHO, total control with simply a license code is the most user friendly option going....0
