Actually, this is very straightforward with the use of Hierarchical Keywords.

I have an upper level keyword named People.
Below that, I have other categories: friends, family, etc.
Within each of those, I have some subsets: eg, Mike's family, etc,
Within some of those I have Mike, Evan, etc.

It is very easy to give key words and to later find who I want that way.

Wow, this is a "game changer"... 😊

It means that, apart from the Date Finder, all the other Catalog Fields can be replaced by Hierarchical Keyworks, right?

    Thanks,

Yes, it's how Lightroom works for example...
It's maybe even a more robust system becouse keywords are compatible with other DAM application. The Catalog fields are not. However, this depends on your needs.
When you want this information to travel with your pictures, keywords is a better alternative.
However, when you want to keep information private (for your eyes only) then catalog fields are better.

The problem is that I have a long list of people, and each photo takes a long time to catalog because I have to browse through it.

I don't think it has to take a long time because you don't have to browse.
This is how i did it:

Right screen in thumnail view (i can recognize the people on the photo's) en left screen in 'Organize' view.
Now i select all photo's from one shoot with person A (this can be done with Ctrl+Click).
Next i begin writing the name under 'People'. When it is someone who is in the database already, the whole name will fill in automaticaly.
When it's someone new, you have to fill in the complete name only this first time. The next time it will auto fill also.

With this method naming does not require much time is my expierence.
