Spacebar on Thumbnail to go Full Screen
I'm trying out Capture One and am used to using Adobe Bridge to browse images. I like to quickly move among thumbnails using the arrow keys then hit the space bar to take the image full-screen. Is there a way to do this with Capture One?

You could edit the keyboard shortcuts. On the Capture One menu find Edit Keyboard shortcuts... There is a default shortcut of Alt-V to toggle the viewer from thumbnails to viewing the selected image.(Try that and check first whether that is the action you want. If that is the right thing, you could change the keyboard short cut to use the spacebar instead. But wouldn't that interfere with the use of the spacebar for other purposes, like typing a name for a layer or whatever? You may be better to get used to using Alt-V, or alternatively you can double click a thumbnail to bring it up in the viewer.

Thanks for the response. If I understand the interface correctly, when I go from the thumbnail to the viewer I'd have yet another keypress to take the viewer full-screen. What I want is to go from a thumbnail to a full-screen image with one keypress. Is that possible? 0 -
I agree. To be able to present the image as a full screen image with nothing else visible is a major feature in Bridge (including the ability of 100% zoom). I often think that the people working at Phase One don't have the insight of how a commercial job works. 0 -
Double-clicking a thumbnail should open it in the viewer. 0 -

Is it possible for the viewer to be configured so it is full-screen upon double-clicking the thumbnail?0 -
Paul, presenting the image on a 30" monitor without ANYTHING else to clutter up the impression is valuable. In some cases the client is paying 100,000-300,000 for a photoshoot. How the pictures are presented is very important, not saying that this feature alone would do it, but all the small things together are part of a greater presentation. Phase One should know this. 0 -
OK - here's how.
(1)First run Capture one full screen (hit the green button if you're on Yosemite, or the full screen button otherwise).
(2) Hide the tools (Cmd-T) and the Browser (Cmd-B)
(3) Now Alt -V toggles between the thumbnails and a full screen view of the selected image.

Alt-V didn't do anything for me. I haven't changed any keyboard shortcuts. 0 -
Command alt + v on a Mac.
It works, but instead of just one tab on the space bar you have to do this.0 -
Three keys is a bit like Twister for the fingers. I'm really liking the interface esthetics but this one thing is making it tough for me to stay motivated and not stick with Bridge. 1 -
You could try, after being in full screen and having one image displayed (follow Ian3 instructions for that), Command + B to show the thumbnails. Then use the arrow keys to move between images.
To hide the thumbnails, Command + B again.0 -
IMHO, it is more work that what's needed. The space bar is an elegant solution with the animated 100% zoom. I Don't want to work in full screen mode. (even the double clickking for 100% zoom is unnecessary, why not just 1 click)
Which leads me to another thing, Why not adapt the same keyboard shortcuts as used in the Adobe's applications. Like rotating an image etc. Phase wants me to learn new shortcuts without the need or a reason. I don't see why Phase feels the need of inventing new shortcuts when everyone in the business already knows one set of shortcuts. Phase has already adapted some of the shortcuts, for example Command N, Command O etc. Why not all of them?1 -
I think hotkeys C1 much closer to Photoshop's hotkeys than even ligntroom's shorcuts 😊 Why adapt it to Bridge or Lightroom? 0 -
For any specific keystrokes or mouse operations I'm using "Keyboard Maestro" in any program. You can use it to create complex tasks with text, menus etc. . You can create hotkeys to use these tasks and you can define, that it only works in CO1.
If you can't change the keyboard mapping of CO1 in this case, you can use a program like Keyboard Maestro.
You are able to use the keystroke "space" as a hotkey and define that keyboard Maestro should simulate the keystroke ctrl-cmd F. Thats it. And you can of course create a lot of more complex tasks....

I don't know why you need to use Command alt + v. Alt-V is the standard shortcut for this on a Mac, and it certainly works like that for me.

It has to be Command+Alt+ V0 -

How odd! Have you looked in Edit Keyboard Shortcuts on the Capture One menu? I believe I have the default settings and they look like this. (It says Hide viewer because I am using the viewer. It toggles to show viewer.)

Ian,
You are referring to a custom keyboard set. In the Default set it is Cmd+Option+V, at least on my system. You can check you default set.0 -
Oh, apologies then. I was sure I hadn't customised any of the keyboard shortcuts.
Edited to add: but at least it shows that you can customise it to something more convenient if the default shortcut is too cumbersome for you.

It sure is! 😂0 -
I find the customizability of the keyboard commands in C1 and the completely customizable workspace to be miles ahead of other products and the final output is just better. I have used both and I think the thing many now adopting C1 don't understand is that it has been the defacto standard in high end commercial photography workflows worldwide for over a decade, years before many competitors were beta builds. Take some time to learn the program and how to customize it to fit your workflow instead of making the program change for you. 0 -
here i am 7 years later, and 100% we need to be able to simply hit spacebar (or any key) to make a thumbnail go fullframe. the only reason i still use bridge to do selects

Well I’ve used Photo Mechanic longer than I’ve used C1 (another program that’s been around longer than Adobe’s “equivalent” — they never really are) so for large shoots I will ingest, rename, add metadata and cull with PM then fly thru edits with C1
