Still no image stacking! :(

Ditto. There's competition coming if Luminar plays their cards right. I hope Phase One is aware of that. Stacking doesn't seem like it would be particularly challenging to implement, I'm not sure why they haven't done it yet.

I'm no spider man but I can sense a "put in a feature request and send it to the abyss" coming.

The trial version of the current version does not have "competitive" RAW demosaic detail rendering. ☹️ It's about like ON1 RAW's.

With the new Applescript commands in Capture One 11, I think I can make an autosorting & autofiling feature, similar to autostacking.

Piut new images into the the To_be_Sorted Album, run the Applescript: the script finds runs and brackets of images, creates albums, and moves the variants there. Remaining variants are moved to the Unstacked_Variants Album.

    e.g.

    • Project: Some_Project

      • Album: Some_Album_1

      • Album: Some_Album_2
        ....

      • Smart Album: Selected_Variants

      • Album: Unstacked_Variants

      • Album: To_be_Sorted

      • Group: Runs

        • Album: Run_1

        • Album: Run_2

        • Album: Run_3
          ....
      • Group: Brackets

        • Album: Bracket_1

        • Album: Bracket_2

        • Album: Bracket_3
          ....

    Bob,
It is not clear to me if you are talking about Organizing your images into a stack, or setting up to marge images in a Focus or HDR stack like Helicon or AffinityPhoto can do. If the former, maybe organizing into custom folders would be of use.

I’m referring to organizing images into a stack. Lightroom and Aperture work in similar ways: drag an image thumbnail onto another and you have a stack.

Custom folders within folders could work, but add too much overhead and visual clutter in the folder list.

Bob, I hear you. I really wish Phase One would take the time to better develop the DAM capabilities in Capture One...or even in Media SE if it were integrated better with Capture One.

Bottom line is Phase One already has amazing RAW processing, color-management, and more that all adds up to a piece of outstanding photo editing software. Now, if only they would focus on their DAM capabilities....

And, I would like focus stacking, à la Helicon; and panorama stitching, too.

Since Helicon can output to RAW (DNG), I have what I need, but it sure would be nice to have it integrated.

Those are nice features. But I’d be very happy to simply have plain-Jane stacking and leave the potential feature bloat to the more distant future. C1 seems very behind its competition on that capability.

I haven’t had the chance to try v11 yet (away on holiday) but it seems to me from the release notes that v11 has a lot of features that users have been asking for on the forum, such as (to mention just a few)

    - changing layer opacity
    - levels (and a lot of other things) as local adjustments
    - duplicate checking on import
    - presets for layer-capable tools

All of which I recall being asked for here (and presumably in feature requests).

So I think that talk of sending requests to the abyss is a bit unfair.

I think also that people may not have full appreciated how much work is likely to have been undertaken deep in the code in order to be able to implement not only the performance gains but also the extended and revised use of levels and the wider areas of refinement.

I would imagine that a lot of low level work, unseen by the user, has been required in order to get to a point where the current batch of new features can be implemented and the next batch of user requested features become possibilities.

To say the release is more like a point release, or similar comments, is absurd in my opinion.

Moreover if you ask 10,000 users what they might like to see as future development features you might well get 10,000 different priority needs, few of which will be really important "must haves" with a long term usage lifespan.

That's just how it is with software - especially software that we might associated with "creativity". Something like photo image developing and editing for example.

Picking the development tat have real meaning and long term potential and apply the resources to those things that offer the most benefit to the most users can be tricky. Moreover it is not always things that get the most support which provide the best return on the investment for either the developer or the customers.

That can be hard to accept.
