CO4 Preferences (and other glitches).
Hello,
I'm one of the happy(...er) users of CO4.5. As I use it only tethered with my P45+, this is the DB version.
I had my fair share of crashes and strange things happening, but overall I'm ok with this new version, and I'm preferring it over de old 3.7.
Mostly bcause of the finer image quality and processing speed. Yes, the learning curve could have been leaner, but so is the case with other applications. (I was mad at time with LR...)
Also, the live-preview is better (though the focus window behaves weird at time) and the overlay utility is much better implemented, tough I've heard none to mention this. 😉
Also, the floating palletes and tab customization is awesome.
But I have questions regarding some problems. Maybe some other users might help, maybe some guys from Phase can join.
I know there's a recommended way to create support cases, but I'm saving these for emergencies.
(I used it just one time and it worked very fast, though. 😊)
1.
One annoying point is the poor selection of preferences.
i mean, come on, every time I open a new session I need to specifically:
-give name to session (with this one am ok 😊)
-get rid of the "Untitled Capture" name (instead it would be cool to just have the default capture name from the the session's name)
-specify the next capture naming (I HATE that camera counter preset...)
-switch from inches to cm over and over, every time I open the application...
2.
In CO3.7 there was a "Capture Orientation" in Preferences. Very useful if you shoot a subject from above, when the digital back sensor might get the orientation wrong.
Any workaround in CO4.5?
3.
The focus window in the Live Preview mode is behaving weird. You point the loupe in a section of the image and the focus moves in another.
??
4.
Every now and then, when I start to shoot tethered or choose Live Preview I get a Firewire error that says that I need to restart the computer.
I'm using a Macpro QuadCore, I guess that the Firewire port is powerful enough.(?!)
5.
When batch processing, instead of showing the number of images remaining (to be processed) the cursor in process summary shows just "1", regardless the number of pictures left.
Thanks in advance.
PS.
I've decided to include my setup in signature. Might be a good ideea for anyone of us, in order to understand better some of the technical details.

1,2,3 and 5 are flaws/design issues and should be addressed in time, but feedback like this is positive for the guys at Phase.
4. is a known bug with quad core mac's with more than 2gb of Ram installed. See here.

The only workaround is to pull the "extra" memory until it is addressed by Apple.0 -
Thanks for your reply, James
Let's just hope that the "guys at Phase" listen at these threads, indeed.
