Delete from the disk while working in a collection?

Is there some way to be looking at images in a collection and delete selected ones from the catalog AND disk?

I'm hoping C1 v9 added something because I don't think this was possible in v8.

    The work around I finally got to using with C1 8.x was to mark the images I wanted to delete with a color (in my case red.)
    Then when I was ready to do the deletion I created a folder labeled trash, selected all the 'red' images and moved them there. Then I deleted them from the C1 catalog using the delete key.
    Next I opened finder and deleted the temporary trash folder and its contents.
    This is roughly analogous to the method used by Aperture. Actual deletion is a 2 step process. Moving from folders and projects to a trap folder, and then 'emptying' the trash.
    The problem is that C1 8 doesn't have a permanent trash, nor an automatic way to move items to that folder.
    Haven't used 9 enough to know if that functionality has been added yet.
    We can hope.

    So this trash folder exists on the drive as opposed to in the catalog? Moving an image from a catalog collection to that folder moves the image file, too?

    I'll have to try that as a (poor) substitute for a a contextual menu item to delete from catalog and drive.

    even simpler:
    mark all files to be deleted with red tagging (press the - on the keyboard for that)
    then go to "all files" in the library tab, select the red marked files within the filter and from there just delete them all. a question window shows up asking you if u want to delete from catalog only or also from the disk.

    I'm coming to realize that I'm going to do better either with all my images stored in the Catalog (like good old Aperture), or none of them. The dichotomy of images in collections that are stored in folders vs. images in collections that are stored in the Catalog is just too much confusion.

    Keeping all images stored in the Catalog, marking the ones to delete from the disk with red tags, filtering the All Images collection for only red tagged images, and then clicking the trash can icon works to get them into the Catalog Trash.

    Too bad clicking the trash can item while in an Album view just removes it from Album. From other collections, the trash icon will move it to the Catalog Trash. Inconsistency makes it hard to safely delete images. ☹️
