Windows Vista updated my SATA drivers today, and immediately C1LE reverted to 'Trial Staus'.
How do I rectify this problem?
    Thanks.
    Iain

I raised this as a support issue and was promised a reply within 8 working hours. That was almost 24 hours ago!
Is anybody going to help here? I can't process any images and I have a lot to do.
    This is urgent.

    imacken,

This is a User to User Forum.
When you have an urgent technical or activation problem with Capture One, you need to create a Support Case:
    http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Support.aspx

The only Promise of a timely response is with a Support Case.
If you did submit a Case, please provide the # and I will investigate why you were not replied to in a timely manner.

However, We cannot offer Support here because Vista OS is NOT currently supported.Yes, some have decided to upgrade to Vista, but it is at one's Own Risk.

    Sincerely,
    K C

Keith, the support number is 29071.
With regard to your comments, I appreciate that this is a user to user forum, but I am obviously aware of your regular presence here, so I thought I would try here. As you can see, I did raise a Support Case.
With regard to Vista, C1 has been working absolutely fine for several months now on Vista, and I don't have any issues with it at all. The issue that has occurred has to do with C1 de-activating itself after a HDD driver update. This as you know is being experienced by several users. All I want is to be able to process my images without this irritating activation system getting in the way, and I have not been able to do this now for 2 days through no fault of my own.
I hope that this system will be abandoned by Phase One with v4 or 3.7.7 as it is a real pain. Every time I have to re-install my system which I do about every 6 months, I have to go through this painful C1 re-activation process by raising Support Cases. Even Microsoft's activation is a 100 times simpler. There is no issue with Windows if you reinstall on the same hardware as the one you activated it on. I wish it was the same with Capture One.
If Capture One wasn't such a good product, I would have dumped it a long time ago due to the activation system.
    Regards

    lain,

I see your Support Case and apologize for the delay in a response.
Your information was taken directly to Developers for both the revert to Trial issue and for input on how Vista + Activation behaves.

Many studios reformat machines throughout the year.
Our activation system allows for reformat, rebuilt and upgraded OS because all of these require a reactivation.
Capture One will also reinstall on the same system without issue, with the exception that it may need reactivated with the Product Key.
When this happens, it is because the system is 'seen' as New.
It is only when you receive an Activations Exceeded message that you need to create a Case.
Proceed with reactivation and let me know via your Case if you have problems.
I'll keep an eye on it to be sure all is well for you.

Yes, I do try to watch over this Forum, but when the Support System becomes busy, that is our priority.
The result is sometimes a Forum Thread is unanswered for while.
Now I know you understand this completely, but you likely also know some folks have posted here for Tech Support, only to become angry if assistance is not forthcoming.

    Sincerely,
    K C

    Thanks for all that Keith.
Can you just explain your statement above? How many activations do you get before needing a Support Case? It seemed to me that I got 2 and then I have to continually contact Support whenever I need to reinstall - even on the same exact hardware.
One more thing Keith, when do you expect C1 to be fully Vista compatible? There are minor issues with writing to 'Program Files' folder as I'm sure you know.

Keith, not to hijack the thread, but would it be better to wait to purchase capture one when the 4 upg comes out, as i use vista, instead of now? thanks...t

    timc,

tough question... the program will work with Vista with very few problems reported. We take official stance of stating 'Not Supported' because Tech Support is busy enough and cannot afford to spend time on an untested unsupported platform.
    See Knowledge Base article;
    http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Support ... nguageid=1

If you have work here and now, why wait? is my first thought.
You could run a PRO Trial for 30 Days and LE for 15 Days.
Next is what version would you get? The LE version is near release and if you purchased now, you would get 4.0 Upgrade for Free.
PRO will be released the latter part of this year.

I guess it makes most sense to Trial with Vista install tips from other users and see how you like the program. This may then help you make a decision.

    Cheers,
    K C
