Tethered camera support

Hi all,

Since English isn't my native language I'm a bit puzzled about the phrase:

Tethered camera support....

I know it is a bit off-topic, but can someone please explain what is meant by this?

When I lookup the word \"Tethered\" I found:

tie with a rope

Example of tether:
Before we went to sleep, we tethered the horses to prevent their wandering off during the night.


So it makes me wander why:
Canon 1Ds MKII / 1D MKII / 1Ds / 1D / 20D / 10D / D300 / D60 / 30D

is listed under \"Tethered camera support\"

and the rest of the models are listed under \"RAW FILE Support\"

    A tethered camera is one that is connected to a computer via a cable. When you expose an image, it is written directly to the computer rather than to a storage card in the camera.

    It also pops up in your preview window. It is used most often by studio photographers as you can see how your image REALLY looks, rather than relying on histograms, or the small LCD Screen.
