May I second that? I'd love to see a Capture One You Tube video on sharpening "best practices ". Also would like to know how to apply sharpening to specific areas like eyes.

    Bob,

There are a series of webinars coming up to provide an intro to V9.

Most webinars from C1 provide for on-line Q&A.

One of the benefits mentioned for V9 relates to scaling improvements ... which must surely mean there will be questions about sharpening.

One idea might be to enrol for one of the webinars, see what is said, raise a sharpening question if the subject is not covered and maybe suggest that a webinar that covers the "best practise" approach used by a number of of the Phase One Pros community would probably be popular.

The danger might be that you ask 10 experts and get 40 different answers ..... but no harm in asking.

Speaking personally I don;t have any particular concerns but I may not understand what I am missing! (Or perhaps gaining in an unwanted way ....)

However I would be very interested to spend an hour seeing how those at the top of the game deal with sharpening needs. And why they do what they do for their images and style(s).

Are the default settings I see applied specific to a camera, or simply a global starting point?

Some photographers I know complain that the default sharpening and noise reduction is too much. It hasn't bothered me nor the editors I work with but I've been wondering if there are differences between camera models here, which might explain their opinion. At least two of them seem to be using Sony cameras.

@Bob, I think this should answer your question: , at least as far as defaults being applied and a way to approach your own sharpening. In the end, it still comes down to output and personal preference.
