Cannot edit images (pencil icon)
I've got a weird issue I've never seen before in C1. Going thru a bunch of images I've scanned from old family photos, and I can't seem to color tag or rate any of them. The options are greyed out. Never had this problem with other things I've scanned in the past. Same scanner, same software.

Do their thumbnails have the read-only icon (an eye) at their bottom right corner?
I have some JPEGs that I captured as stills from an mpeg movie file that are marked read-only. I can't rate or color tag them.
These JPEGs are 640 x 480 pixels (or less) which I think is below the minimum size that Capture One will handle

No, they don't. I checked permissions on the files (in Finder) and they were normal (read/write). I have a screen shot of two images I scanned and the corresponding icons, but I don't think this forum supports img uploads. I should add that I also can't edit those photos (beside not being able to tag). The icon is a pencil w/a line thru it.
edit - did some googling, found this:
"Read Only: A crossed over pencil will appear in the bottom right corner of an image if a file is unsupported or if you don’t have the access rights to edit a file. You might see this read-only icon if you try to edit images files located on a camera or a CD. Note: JPEG files will have a read-only icon if the Enable JPEG Editing option is unchecked."
These images are sitting on my Macbook Pro's hard drive AND on my NAS, not a CD. The Enable JPEG Editing option is checked.0 -
For reference, are you using 9.0.3?
Size may be an issue.
Too big (see release notes iirc) and C1 will not use the original files.
Small size may also be a criterion but with the latest release small does indeed mean very small.
The existence of an Alpha channel will also inhibit editing activity at this time.
HTIU.
