Capture One Pro 6 stability??
I'm running Capture One Pro 6.0.1 on a Mac Pro running OS Leopard 10.5.8, and much as I like the features and image quality of the converted RAW files (from a Canon 5D MKII) I find it so unstable as to be almost unworkable. I first worked with Capture One Pro v4 (purchased only a few days before v5 was released 🙄 ) and the upgraded to v5 a while later. I found both v4 & v5 to be pretty unstable but persevered due to some of the features which I particularly liked and the quality of the raw conversion.
When v6 came alone I was close to dropping Capture One due to lack of stability, it was just crashing all the time, but I thought I would give it one last chance....
Whist I like the upgrade features wise, I find no improvement in stability. It is so infuriating as it's just what I want but SO VERY unstable. Not wanted to descend into a rant, this mornings work has been pretty typical - in less than one hour working with Capture One it has crashed four times!
I'd be interested to hear other users experiences. If anyone has had similar problems and solved them I'd much appreciate any advice. I'm hoping it is something particular to my setup and can be resolved, but I'm also wondering if Capture One Pro is simply unstable and prone to crashing.
Regards,
Phil

Zach,
I hope it lasts. In my case, once I got v.6.1.1 up and running, everything was great for about one day. Then it started stalling and quitting frequently, just like before. I was advised by an independent Apple service technician to repair permissions and rebuild all of my hard drives, which I did using Drive Genius 3. I have seen definite improvement as a result, but I still experience occasional C1 crashes.
I have noticed that most, if not all, of these incidents occur when CS5 is also active with multiple images open. If CS5 is closed, C1 seems to run smoothly, which makes me wonder if my problem is related to insufficient RAM and processing power. I have a four year old Mac Dual with 9 Gb of RAM, so I may be reaching the limits of what my computer can handle, given the size and complexity of the latest software. I am going to add RAM and hope for further improvement.
At any rate, I would recommend that those who are experiencing problems running C1-6 go through the repair and rebuild process. It can't hurt, and it might help.

Good thinking of the Apple service technician: I had not yet that disk rebuild (of file locations) with Drive Genius on my periodic maintenance task list, now it is (repair permissions is, among others). Maybe we should do an off-topic thread on your favorite Mac-voodoo for maintenance. I sure belief that a lot of issues are linked with these kind tasks are lack there-off.
Regarding your CS5 remark: as I recapped in another thread recently, with CO6 and CS5 we suddenly stepped into the 64-bit application arena on Mac. The apps are now able to use all RAM you have. You might want to experiment with the 32-bit mode options for one or both to see what's happening.0 -
Updated to 6.1.1 â„ Mac OS X, 2x2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Now created a new session (160files)
Start to browse through the images. C1pro crashed 5times in 5 Minutes.
Could you please make a button in the software to: "create a support case"?0 -
