catalogue corruption due to crash

    My catalog also got corrupted and couldn't be opened. Tech support said there was 2 things that could be done. The first one, was to roll back to an earlier version of the catalog. That is what I did. I entered Time Machine and restored my most recent backup, which had been done about an hour earlier. That restored catalog became my working catalog. The second option was to create a new catalog and import your corrupted catalog into the new catalog.

    Ok support recommended opening C1 to a new session or catalogue and using the Verify Catalogue tool (located under file menu) to check and fix corrupted database. This worked but only after I deleted capture one pref files from my preferences folder. (C1 would not open successfully until I took that step)

    For other users benefit here are the steps I took.

    The database is now repaired successfully but I before getting to that repair I had to delete the preference files to allow C1 to open at all.
    So my steps were;

    1. delete pref files
    2. open C1 to new session, no issue
    3. attempt to open corrupted database directly without repair (just to test it in case it was ok after all), produces instant crash again.
    4. delete pref files
    5. open C1 to new session, no issue
    6. follow repair db procedure as instructed

    I have now had to delete those darned pref files so often, I have added the preferences folder to my sidebar for easier access. I have not had to delete pref files like this since OS 9 ☚ī¸

    Since 9.0.3 I've had several crashes when switching catalogs (don't remember version 8 ever crashing). But I first close a catalog and then open another one. At least that didn't damage any catalog database and it usually works the second time.
