Upgrading from 4.01 to 4.1 - deactivate first?

I know I should uninstall 4.01 prior to installing 4.1. Should I deactivate before I uninstall?

    Not necessary.
    You can uninstall first 4.01 via normal unistaller and install CO 4.1/

    As stated in the readme You can install 4.1 in a new map and have both active.
    I have done so.
