You can check your license's state (number of activations and upgrades) from the Phase One web site. Log in and go to license management.
In general, if you have a CO 3 Pro license, you will probably have 2 free upgrades and eligible to upgrade to CO 5 directly. If you have a CO 1 Pro license, CO 4 may be your last free ride, paying upgrade fee to CO 5. (Read between the lines and skip CO 4, which came to 4.8.3 if you want to have the number).

yes, it indicates i have 2 free upgrades and 1 activation left.
it seems the upgrade to 5 from 4 is $99.- regardless of my extra free upgrade pass.
at least i can start using this again with 4 though.
    thanks.

If you have 2 free upgrades left, you should be able to start with CO 5 now (free without upgrade fee). I do not understand on what you base your upgrade fee on.
It's easy though, when you download and install CO 5, you activate it. If it accepts your CO Pro key, you're done.
In addition, when you buy a new Mac, it comes with OS X 10.6.x or Snow Leopard. You better use CO 5, not CO 4 on Snow Leopard.

    thanks paul,
that would be sweet if i can upgrade to 5 without paying.
i just figured it was too big a jump or something and was looking at it based on this page:

good to know CO 4 isn't the best for snow leopard as well.
    best,
    jason
