Compress Tiff or not?

depending on your PC configuration it can take longer time. We use tiff only as intermediate files so we export as uncompressed because it is faster to write larger file to SSD then to compress it and save little smaller file.

TIFFs are typically lossless compressed, so no quality loss if you use it for archive.

    Ah, I see!
Is it because of the compression that my computer nearly crashes during saving/showing the tiff?
Sorry, I'm new to capture one and I was used to work with psd because of the crash of the computer when working with tiff

as of Windows 7 software cannot* crash the computer. If your computer crashes it is probably overheating, having hardware issue or some driver problem. Software problems usually leads to frozen application or application crash, not whole computer.

*some software can crash computer through low level access to the drivers, but it is rare.

Yeah, sorry, you're right. I have Windows 7 and when I open a folder with tiffs in it, the computer freezes. Can take a while to be able to do anything at all again.
Is it because it's compressed? Would it change when I save the Tiff uncompressed?

there is rather some weird issue behind it in your case. It probably freezes because it is generating thumbnails, but it shouldn't be that slow.
When i open folder with 200 tiffs compressed or not, it is almost instant. probably damaged the part of the windows which generates previews. Try to set it as normal folder (without thumbnails) and see what it does (right click, properties, options - or how it is named on english windows).

i'd rathre compress tiff image, so the loading or saving speed would be much faster. and what image compressing toolare you using to compress this tiff image, sometimes image quality will be influenced.
