There is a way to display guides in in view menu, but unfortunately there is no way to stick brush to guides, at least to my knowladge, and no other option to stick brush to gorizontal or vertical line!

    Richard:

Certainly you're looking for an on-screen help feature for drawing a straight line. But since this is not available (other than help lines) your option is using a ruler on your desk as a guide for your mouse. Not elegant but works.

I guess that would work for any device - brilliant.

Adaptable and portable across applications thus not relying in any special or specific software functionality.

Actually Michael I think it really elegant because it IS so simple and portable.

I have to admit that the question of drawing a straight line (other than for horizons perhaps, but C1 covers that) has never been an obvious major issue to me.

In a situation where I need a straight line, I will typically use a gradient mask that is very short (so there is little feathering) and then erase what shouldn't be straight.
